4.0 out of 5 stars Good Monitor for the Price, November 25, 2004

If you're like me and you're getting this as a second "spare" monitor (not for graphic design work) then you won't be dissapointed with this monitor. I am accustomed to large pricey Trinitrons, and this monitor comes reasonably close to that quality in color and contrast. Good refresh rate with very little ghosting and mine had NO bad pixels. The biggest drawback of this monitor is that the vertical viewing angle is exaggerated in the specifications. If you get this monitor, you will notice that the top of the screen is slightly darker than the bottom because of the smaller viewing angle. My Sony LCD does not have that problem. If you can live with it (it's pretty minor) then this is a great deal. Also, the default brightness is WAY too high - you have to use the economy mode and turn down the contrast because the brightness control doesn't help. Running through the Adobe Gamma wizard really helps out. This might actually be beneficial as the bulb wears down in a few years.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice basic monitor... Great price, December 5, 2004

I was tenative about ordering this monitor given that I could not find anything about the manufacturer on the web nor could I find any reviews of the product... but given the price, I figured I would give it a try.

I purchased two of them. Both arrived on time, unfortunately one of them has a cracked display that became visible once I turned it on. I suspect this happened during shipping. I went back to the Amazon web site and selected the return option... Amazon provided simple instructions to do the return. Hopefully the rest of the process will go as smoothly.

Installation was simple plug and play. No drivers are necessary or included.

The appearance of the monitors is very clean and simple. No logos or names appear on the front.

The controls are the standard ones you would expect (Menu, Brighness, Contrast) and are well placed. I particularly like the Turbo button that allows you to toggle between 'Picture, Text and Economy' mode depending on what your looking at.

Image Quality: There is no flickering or ghosting. Text is sharp and easy to read. I use an ATI All-in-Wonder video card that displays a TV in a window. The TV image is great. On the whole, the image quality is fine for normal applications.

Documentation: Obviously the manufacturer didn't spend much money on documentation. There is a Quick Setup brochure packed with the monitor that is mostly in Chinese and of minimal value. There is a PDF owners manual that was extremely slow to open on my machine. It too is of minimal value.

At this point I have only had the monitors for a day and one will have to be returned due to the cracked display so it is premature to rate quality and durability.

Summary: On the whole, this is a perfectly good monitor for the average home or small business user including the the casual gamer. They are clean looking, nice image quality and a great price.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Pixo Corion C700 17" LCD Monitor with Speakers (Black) (Personal Computers)
I received the LCD monitor yesterday. Set it to 1280x1024 and watched a Divx movie. Pretty good picture. No dead pixel.

The only thing makes me worry is the warranty. he box, user manual and warranty card are so generic. There is no company name/logo/address printed anywhere. From the Chinese version of user manual, I noticed the monitor is made by Chi Mei in Taiwan. Chi-Mei is one of the largest LCD monitor OEM in Taiwan. I think the quality should be ok. But if the monitor breaks someday, I really don't know where to send it for repair.
