My 6 year old son Gib adores this book. It is beautifully illustrated, has wonderful humor, and is a challenging read. I recommend it to all pizza lovers and young readers alike!

Pizza Pat,

This review is from: Pizza Pat (Step-Into-Reading, Step 2) (Paperback)
My 21/2 year old loves this book. I read it over and over to her. Then she reads the pictures to me over and over. If your young reader likes Step Into Reading books this will be a good one. I read the words with an Italian accent and it is that much better.

anonymous 9 yr old,

This review is from: Pizza Pat (Step Into Reading: A Step 1 Book) (School & Library Binding)
I gave this book a rating of 4 stars because I'm not really into poems, but I think it's pretty easy for me to read. I think some people younger than me would love this book if they like poems and if they like pretty easy books. I wish I liked poems because this was pretty good!

Pizza Pat is a winner!,

This review is from: Pizza Pat (Step-Into-Reading, Step 2) (Paperback)
PIZZA PAT is one of the most delightful easy-reading books I have found. It is my standard gift for every child from 3 to 7. (And every time I get ready to gift wrap it, I reread it myself and chuckle.)

A two year old FAVORITE,
By Stay at home mommy (Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pizza Pat (Step-Into-Reading, Step 2) (Paperback)
When my oldest daugher was two, we read this book at least once a night. My second daughter listened to it from age 2-3 twice a night and even brought to school (and the teacher read it 7 times in a row because of the constant 'again, agains' from the class). Now my three year old son is in love with this book. We read it at least twice a night and thanks to the constant repitition, he 'reads' it too! He loves this book so much he thanks Jesus at prayer time for 'Pizza Pat and the mice'.
We have probably over 400 kids books and I swear this is the most read!

Lots of fun for the preschool set,

Both my 4-year-old and my 2-year-old love this book. The illustrations are wonderful and really capture Pizza Pat's emotions as he builds his pizza and later loses it to some hungry, albeit naughty, little mice. The descriptions of the ingredients used to make the pizza are silly and giggle-provoking. Even if your kids don't eat pizza, they are sure to enjoy this little book over and over again. I agree with another reviewer: reading the text with an accent definitely adds to the hilarity.

A very memorable book,
This review is from: Pizza Pat (Paperback)
My oldest son, who is now 13, had us read this book to him until our copy was ragged. When we thought we lost it, we bought another one because he loved going through the story with us. It's repetitive, but it's awesome for kids to predict the story, this kind of book is a great tool for kids to learn to recognize and learn words from stories they know by heart. We still read Pizza Pat! Our thirteen year old reads it to his three year old brother now (with sound effects and all).

My son was 6-7 when I bought this book. It is one of his all time favorites. It is funny, creative, and repetitive(great when learning to read). He took it to school for his birthday and the teacher read to class.

My kindergarten son brought this book home to read as an assignment and he, my younger son and my wife and I absolutely loved it. It does an excellent job teaching rhyming patterns and is a lot of fun to read.
It was a little difficult tracking down a copy to buy as it is out of print but if you can find it, and haven't read it, it is worth doing.

Rhyme and repetition are two of the best ways to learn,
By
This review is from: Pizza Pat (Step-Into-Reading, Step 2) (Paperback)
and Pizza Pat has a lot of both. This is my daughter's favorite book (age 7, autistic). She laughs and laughs at poor Pat, who has his masterpiece pizza eaten by "mice by the dozens." I wish I had a recording of my husband reading it to her. I think he enjoys it as much as she does.
The repetitious rhyming makes the book easy to read and fun for her, which in turn aids her language development and reading skills. Plus, it's about her very favorite thing to eat. If all books were this much fun, she'd never put them down! Alas, they are not, and even a child who perseverates (some might say "obsesses") gets bored eventually. My only dissatisfaction with the book is that some of the rhymes are a bit forced. But when you're a child, those descriptions are not so strange, so it's probably the grownup in me. If you have a little pizza-lover in your life, they will adore Pizza Pat! |
