About the Author
Three decades ago, during the Vietnam War, Karber had just turned 18 when the U.S. Army sent him to Ramason Station, an intelligence-gathering base near the Thai-Laotian border. He served as a finance clerk and copied into a notebook all new words that he encountered.
A native of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, the author began honing his talent for writing after he moved to Nairobi, Kenya. His passion for travel followed shortly thereafter, and a perfect combination was born.
Having worked for 16 years as the Chief Financial Officer of an oil and gas company, Phil Karber now dubs himself a professional vagabond. Married, with two children, today he lives with his wife in Vietnam, dedicating his time to exploring foreign lands and writing about his experiences.
