More About the Author

Raymond S. Ihrig - Born in Fort Worth, Texas in 1959 to a Mexican beauty of Spanish heritage and a Kentucky sailor of German descent. Raymond moved to Corpus Christy, Texas as an infant and then to San Antonio for a short time before settling in Austin as a toddler. By then, and barely out of "cloth" diapers, he was fluent in Spanish and English languages. He grew to love the outdoors and began his work life chopping fire wood for a BBQ restaurant. His natural creativity developed in the landscape business for several years. A carpenters helper on a framing crew provided the skills needed to work with wood, his first true love. After a two year stint in New Orleans going to school, some college back in Austin, and an industrial accident where he worked as a printers assistant at a news paper company impaired his left hand, he married his Jr. High School sweet heart. Life events led him to a pawnshop where he became employed. Twenty years learning about life in the trenches of this melting pot, three children later, and a lapidary shop in the garage, he went back to school earning a transition from specialty retail to the computer industry working for Dell Inc. as a business analyst and customer escalation specialist. He left Dell in 2007 and began making wire wrap jewelry. People liked his work and encouraged him to sell it. He now sells his work on a self designed, builted, and managed website (www.jewelrywirewrap.com). A couple of months after his website went live a customer emailed for help wire wrapping a crystal. He wrote a book on the subject and emailed it to her. His kids are all grown and he's now home alone with his wife of 31 years. More books are on the way! Raymond has done it again. For those new to wire wrapping, the instructions are as clear as the crystals. Even more important is the information about choosing stones and wire. I had no idea that the choices for materials can make or break the creation of a piece of jewelry. I almost feel as if I have a personal instructor. Read and enjoy.

Raymond has done an outstanding job with this book. Although I have been wire wrapping for some time, I had never wrapped a crystal, and they can be tricky. I followed his instructions to the letter, and came out with a very beautiful piece that I love! His illustrations are very good and helped me really "get" what he was saying in his writing. I found this book easier to follow than a lot of the very expensive books I have purchased on wire wrapping! I highly recommed this book to anyone! Yay for Raymond!
