5.0 out of 5 stars Superior Killin Ability, September 16, 2010
This review is from: 3 - Pk. Rage 2 Blade 100 Grain Broadhead (Misc.)
My friend purchased a set of these last year before going hunting. Not sure if this set comes with it, but his set came with a practice tip(same weight, trajectory, etc..) He went hunting with them and shot a button-buck (thought it was a doe) Not a good shot, nailed it in the hind quarter... it ran off, he called me and had me look for the deer with him, it only ran about 50m or so and died... massive blood trail, easy to find... When I saw the entrance hole of his arrow... I asked him what the hell he used... cause it looked like he hit the thing with an axe.... These broadheads make a HUGE hole, I'm buying mine from the store, because I wanna make sure I get the practice tips.... a definate buy though

4.0 out of 5 stars Only Rage!, January 3, 2012
This review is from: 3 - Pk. Rage 2 Blade 100 Grain Broadhead (Misc.)
This year I decided to shoot the 125 grain vice the 100 grain in the past. Last year I took a doe (18 yards) and had a pass through with a broken rib...quick kill.

This year, I shot a gobbler (center mass) and it ran about 30 yards. Later that night I shot an 8 point (heart shot) 50 yards and as soon as I hit it the blood was spewing out everywhere. I could see the blood shooting out as it ran through the woods. Needless to say the tracking was easy.

Lastly, I shot a doe and unfortunately I spine'd her. Fortunately, with these broad heads she was down fast and due to the increased cut, bled out faster than I could knock another one.

I love these broad heads because they fly true, open huge holes and when hit properly or even close, they put game down fast.

The only drawback to these and it's a big one, is the price to use ratio. You basically get one shot with these things and then it's either damaged, bent, broken or chipped. At around $10-$14 per arrowhead that's something to take into consideration, but then again when it comes down to the "shot of your life", do you really want to walk away knowing that because you saved a couple of "bucks", you lost the "buck" that meant the most?!?!

4.0 out of 5 stars rage 2 blade, not for all applications, November 10, 2011
By
This review is from: 3 - Pk. Rage 2 Blade 100 Grain Broadhead (Misc.)
I've shot a handful of deer with this broadhead. Excellent blood trails have made for easy tracking, but with a good double lung shot the deer have not gone far enough for a lot of tracking to take place. The last doe tag I filled was late in the day with diminishing light. The doe was quartered toward me a little more than I realized and I ended up shooting her more lengthwise than broad side. I'm shooting right around 70 lbs, and had complete pass through from front quarter to rear quarter. Upon cleaning the deer I found I had only hit one lung, but she didn't go more than 40 yards. The blades have cut right through the ribs of the whitetails I've shot with this broadhead.

I have yet to shoot an elk with this broadhead, and I probably won't. I've found that with hiking, calling and any general moving around I am constantly checking to see that the blades are still being held by the rubber ring that holds them in place. Most of the time I found I had to reseat the blades after moving. Excellent wound channel, but probably better suited for stationary hunting practices.

Do not shoot a turkey with this broadhead unless you can hit them in the head or neck. I shot a turkey broadside, center mass. There was an unusually loud thwack, the turkey jumped up and then ran away with my arrow hanging out of its wing with virtually no penetration. I've since talked to other bow hunters, only a few of them knew to not shoot a turkey with a mechanical. I was told the feathers tend to stop mechanicals as they open up. If you already knew this then you can make fun of me for not knowing, but if you didn't here's your heads up. I feel terrible for having wounded anything and hope to help others not make the same mistake. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I'm not sure I would believe a broadhead that can slice through ribs wouldn't do the same to feathers, but that's the word on the street.

Lastly, the center pin that the blades pivot on is not a screw in the model of broadhead I have so the blades can't be replaced. The tip blade can however as it is held in place by an allen screw. This seems odd to me as the larger blades are typically slightly bent and dulled after cutting through the ribs of a whitetail. I would recommend this product based on performance, but would caution potential buyers to be certain of the intended uses, abilities and limitations.
