A 3-D Marble Maze with Multiple Paths

Unlike traditional flat mazes composed of a single path, Perplexus Twist adds the challenge of gravity and obstacles to the gameplay. This three-dimensional maze consists of a 7.5-inch transparent sphere housing colored tracks with 30 challenging barriers. It's up to you to turn, twist, and tilt the sphere to maneuver the small marble from one starting point to one end point.

Easy to Learn, Challenging to Master

Getting started with the Perplexus Twist is easy. Simply roll the marble to the start of track one, two, or three. Then grab the handles and flip, twist, and spin the sphere to move the marble along the path, realign ramps, and create new paths when you run into dead ends or obstacles.

With Perplexus Twist, it's up to you to control the alignment of the tracks. When your marble falls off the track, maneuver it back to beginning. And when you make it to "The Perch," you're ready for another challenging track. Though you can start on any track you'd like, it's recommended that beginners start with track one.

Three Perplexing Tracks with Surprising Obstacles

This brain puzzle features three challenging tracks for you to maneuver. As you move your marble along each track, you'll run into surprising traps, cliffs, and dead ends. Carefully twist the handles to create new paths and navigate through the game's 30 challenging obstacles such as the "The Pincher" and "The Snake Tongue."

Single- or Multiplayer Options

Perplexus Twist offers many fun options for gameplay. Play alone or with a friend in a competitive, multiplayer challenge. Race against an opponent, or beat your own best times.

A Portable, Kid-Friendly Puzzle

Not only is Perplexus Twist entertaining, it also offers a fun way for kids to exercise their dexterity and motor skills. Children and adults alike can practice and help improve hand-eye coordination and spatial skills. At 7.5 inches, Perplexus Twist is also small and sturdy enough for travel.

My first Review, But since no one has said anything about the 4th issuing in the Perplexus line, I thought I would jump in... I have some positives and some negatives to discuss.

Its a lot of fun and easily the best one they have made yet... The ball has been divided into two halves. One rotates while the other is locked, and the player has to align both gravity and the tracks to continue. All of the transitions are very fun and original, they properly utilized the full potential of the twisting mechanic. (including one memorable transition where the player pins the ball between 2 arms and flips the sphere 180' while the marble is being held). The player spends most of the time going directly back and forth between the "red" and "blue" halves of the sphere via a series of connecting ramps or "Spokes", most of the spokes contain at least one obstacle but there are several segments where you travel along more traditional tracks and have a prolonged stay on one side or the other. (Usually the blue half as it is locked to the sphere and the player has greater control). The dead ends are quite entertaining because They lead to many cool "Aha!" moments as you discover how and where the track continues, adding yet another fun mindbending layer to this puzzle.

However the official advertising and packaging for the product is somewhat incorrect, they claim there are 30 transitions between the 2 halves, but in reality there are only about 12 (5 spokes each with 2 tracks on a side, do the math... plus the ball runs up and down the central rotating core itself twice). They also claim there are 100 barriers but I cant see how there are more than 70. Also their trademark "numbering" every turn is different in this model...

The great thing about this one is that, when you fail, you can get right back to where you were because the track bases near the handles have multiple grooves for you to direct the ball back to where it was. This prevents a lot of frustration. I can't beat it yet, but I can get about halfway there.

We have all of the previous models of Perplexus. This new version isn't just a different maze, it actually twists, and that takes it to another level. We love Perplexus in our household (ages 41, 37, 10, 8, 4) and this toy just rocked our socks.

If you like the Perplexus series this is the latest one. Bought two, sent one to grandchildren and kept the other at the office to entertain our young patients. So it gets handled a couple dozen times a day, dropped, kicked and what not. It has held up without a problem. All the kids and most of the parents love our collection of four and I would bet that Plasmart has a bunch of sales this Christmas from around here.

I now own all four Perplexus puzzles - so far my favorite has been the "standard" one - Twist is fun, and it is challenging, and it is beatable. But it seems to be made a bit more sloppy than the other puzzles in this set - it's easier to get going too fast or just fall off. And the tracks are a bit hard to follow one to the next - the numbers should be highlighted better so you don't need to squint and turn the ball into a bright light, thus falling off the track again....
But I like it, and I'm glad I bought it! Now to beat the "Epic"!!

The original perplexus is a thought provoking and fun innovation in puzzle mazes. It combines the skill of careful maneuvering with a creative maze design that keeps you guessing about where the next turn leads. Perplexus Twist takes the same concept yet adds a completely new dimension to the design. Half of the maze in attached to a spinning axle while the other half is stationary. This is not just more of the same but provides a distinctly new and refreshing experience from the original. While I would recommend beginners starting with the original perplexus, I would highly recommend this as a followup purchase.

Things I like about this new version:

1. Side ramps- While I appreciate a good challenge, sometimes perplexus can be very frustrating when you keep falling off and have to start all the way over. Twist has several side ramps that allow you to pick up close to where you fell off without having to start back from the beginning. While going all the way through without falling is a good challenge, sometimes you just want to move on to the next section without starting over. There were points that I would have just given up for a while if I had had to start over every time. This kept me playing the game longer in one sitting.

2. New creative transitions- This is not just more of the same. The designers of the game have included several new, surprising and challenging obstacles that keep the game fresh and interesting.

3. Exploration- For the most part you knew where you needed to go in the original game (there were a few places you had to search but because the numbers where physically connected in sequential order it didn't take to long to find the next). In twist you have to look a lot harder to find where to go next.
