4.0 out of 5 stars Need More Dakota Moon!
Just like their first album, "Dakota Moon," "A Place To Land" is a showcase of talent for a band that's broad to categorize and doesn't have enough radio friendly hits. But in both cases, I was amazed by the musical and songwriting ability of this quartet. 3.0 out of 5 stars A Place to Land by Dakota Moon
Enjoying this CD but not nearly as much as Dakota Moon by Dakota Moon. Their lyrics and harmonies remain second to none.

But in both cases, I was amazed by the musical and songwriting ability of this quartet. No personal disappointment, except for knowing that bands that don't follow a standard don't get the same play as others, and never really get a fair shot at true popularity.

5.0 out of 5 stars AN AMAZING NEW ALBUM!!, February 20, 2002

I have been a Dakota Moon fan since 1998 when their first album, "Dakota Moon" was released, and have followed the band around and caught many of their live shows (which ROCK!). I bought the new album, "A Place To Land" today at Tower Records in LA and I was completely blown away--even after just one listen--and felt compelled to write this review. The album captures every side of this amazingly talented group of guys -- acoustic, soul, out & out rock and pop hooks that won't quit. Most impressively, the tracks "Don't Give Up On Me," "Lonely Days" and "Let Me Have It" capture their live performance perfectly!! I just cannot believe that this album is finally here and I get to hear their music all the time now. Buy this album and I promise you will not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!, November 18, 2002

I bought this CD after hearing "My Song" just one time. I am blown away by the rest of the CD too! Dakota Moon's vocals are incredible, their harmonies mix perfectly, and the CD blends a great mix of upbeat and slow songs. "My Song" is still definitely my favorite, what an inspirational song! It's such a shame that the rest of the world won't hear this en masse, because Dakota Moon deserves so much more.

5.0 out of 5 stars worth the wait, April 4, 2002

This second album by Dakota Moon is every bit as good as the first, and well worth the long wait for it to be released. As before, the album is a good mix of different sounds like slick ballads, smooth grooves and stomping tracks.

This album is absolutely necessary if you like music that moves your soul! It makes you want to dance like you've never danced before. It makes you feel the sensuality in songs like "Keeps Me Coming" and it is just a great mix of songs. Every song on the album is fantastic. I am a huge Dakota Moon fan, and I think Dakota Moon offers a variety of sounds to appeal to any listener.

5.0 out of 5 stars What an AWESOME new group!, February 27, 2002

I spend 8-10 hours working as a retail manager listening to the local pop stations in the area and every time I wanted to hear the artist singing "looking for a place.." the DJ must have told the artist before playing the single. Finally I told somebody about this new group and how this song sounds like the group "Chicago", and they told me it was "Dakota Moon". I pulled all the info. up on the computer and sure enough, Dakota Moon was there. What a Great new sound for the new year! This is a must have album!! "Release Me" will be their second big hit! Rock on!!

I only wish I'd discovered Dakota Moon sooner. I know they've been around for some time, but I only found out about them in recent years when I heard their song, "A Place to Land" on NBC as a promo for their new station identification. I liked the tune and couldn't remember ever hearing it before, but did a search for the title and it lead me to DM. I bought this CD (as well as their first CD about a year later) and absolutely loved it. The depth and strength of their vocal harmonies is amazing, and most of the songs on this album were truly great to listen to, I thought, especially "I'd be a Fool". It's really too bad that they haven't found a solid audience and have not seemed to really take off. I think they're a GREAT group of talented musicians that I wish got much more airplay. If they're still around and singing, perhaps they might one day find their niche. Until then, I highly recommend this their 2nd offering.
