This review is from: A Place Like Home (Indigo) (Mass Market Paperback)
Forced to take a vacation, widower, attorney Lee Oliver takes his twelve-year- old daughter and goes to his childhood home of Benton Lake. Lee wants to bring some joy back into their lives and put a smile on his little girl's face. Katrice Ware has thrown caution to the wind, quit her job, and broken up with her long time boyfriend. Taking her inheritance, she moves into Grandma Harry's house in Benton Lake. Distrust, fear, and verbal abuse, mixed with the will to be independent, has Karen afraid and asking herself if she can really do this?

The author Alicia Wiggins' description of places and characters was amazing. I saw myself in the scenes as I read them. A PLACE LIKE HOME was a page turner, I felt the pain, distrust, and confusion. I cried over the treatment of Karen by those who claimed they loved her. I understood her reluctance to move forward and trust again.
