Book Description

Jo's plan for a mountain cabin getaway from the city over the holidays didn't include a handsome arrogant grouch of a man, but the fates had something else in mind.

Mac was tired of rescuing city folk who came to the mountains unprepared for trouble. But he was the one who wasn't prepared for an encounter with someone like Jo.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fine New Writer to the Fiction eBook Scene January 14, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Why 5 stars? This novella is balanced: danger, action, romance, community, and that's unusual in a romance. The misunderstood parts of Jo and Mac become revealed in a logical way. They are attracted to each other, but don't have the instant love that happens in so many romances.

Apparently Mac's 2 brothers will have their own novellas. I'm ready for them.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novella. The characters are engaging, the plot pulled me in and I couldn't stop reading until I knew what happened next. I'm looking forward to many more books by this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still thinking about this book February 12, 2014
By Sheryl
Format:Kindle Edition
I read this story in installments on KD James blog over the holidays. Not only did I look forward to it with the same anticipation that Dickens fans must have felt waiting for the newspaper serials, but a couple of months later, I find myself thinking of these characters. I am confident that they are still a healthy, romantic part of each other's lives. The romance has as much staying power as the story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved It! February 5, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I thoroughly enjoyed this novella, both for the strong, smart main characters, Jo and Mac, and for the community KD James has created in this little mountain town. It was a pleasure to spend time here. This is just Book One, which means we get to look forward to Books Two (!) and Three (!) in which, it is presumed, we will get to learn more about Mac's family and watch his brothers meet their respective matches. Yippee!

More About the Author

KD James is a writer who had a very ordinary childhood -- which does little to explain her penchant for making stuff up and then writing about it, fully expecting people to be fascinated by the result. She is currently hard at work on a suspenseful political conspiracy type of thriller, with a bit of romance and banter in the mix. She also writes the occasional blog post and would be delighted if you stopped by to say hello next time you're wandering aimlessly around the interwebs: http://KDJames.com
