Brian Stokes Mitchell's Single CD,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Place for Us: Tribute 50 Years of West Side Story (Audio CD)
When I saw this CD and the artists I thought this CD would put a special taste on West Side Story's 50th Anniversary recording coming out Tuesday on CD. WRONG!!!It starts out triumphantly with the music and Brian Stokes Mitchell's soaring rendition of Something's Coming. I was psyched and ready to roll with the boys. Next Johnny Mathis swoons Maria to us and we are in heaven. The song Cool started and I was ready to snap fingers. BOY, was I wrong. What a horror! I wanted to throw my I-Pod away. It Gets Worse!!! The instumentals may have been nice if they had their real title but songs like Gee, Officer Krumpke had me thinking, "what am I listening to?" If I could return this CD I would. I wouldn't give it to any friends in fear of losing them. I can skip through the instrumentals songs and listen to the 3 to 4 grand ones but otherwise it's time to call the trash man. This would have been a great CD Single for Brian Stokes Mitchell for his next solo CD or for Hugh Panaro's first solo CD. By the way, when are you going to release that CD Hugh Panaro?

What a disappointment!,

This review is from: Place for Us: Tribute 50 Years of West Side Story (Audio CD)
When I first learned of the issue of this CD, I expected it would be an appropriate commemoration of one of the major works in American musical theater. Wrong! What a terrible disappointment and waste of money! With the wealth of performers to choose from since 1957, the producers' choice of Streisand, Johnny Mathis and Andy Williams (!!?!!)is appalling.
