the question is, how can this dvd not be an excellent edition to a placebo fan's collection. you get what they're giving you, plain and simple. while some of their music videos stand out more than others (notably, in my opinion, pure morning, special k, slave to the wage, and special needs) they are all well done. stylistic, artistic, sometimes suggestive, the concepts and ideas behind them are excellent. the dvd offers audio commentary which by nature, gets a little dry here and there, but offers insight into the production of the videos and the band's experiences when making them. unfortunately, and for obvious reasons, you do not get the more explicit videos for this picture and protege moi. being from the states, i've missed out on the majority of their videos, and its great to finally see all of them and even better to know, they're not drab and boring.

regarding the interview and extra little live performances you get, they're enjoyable as long as you care for such. 20th century boy being an added bonus if you're a bowie fan (same goes for without you i'm nothing). the only thing i find unecessary is the english summer rain live video.

it's not pertinent to the content inside, but it makes sense that the dvd's design reflects the quality of the works and the band itself. the menu is refined, simple yet visually engaging, portraying the singles' albums, and images of the band, and continuing the themes used for their latest releases- the singles collection of course and sleeping with ghosts. the booklet continues with this simplicity and use of the nude figure with shots of the human body. in bold lettering, the lyrics of twenty years.

Placebo are one of the more successful UK bands of the past ten years. This shows them in all their phases: post-grunge, neo-glam, and pan-euro rockers. I have seen most of these videos already. "Nancy Boy" and "Pure Morning" and "The Bitter End" used to be shown on MTV in the USA quite a lot. Probably more in Europe. I was at that Placebo/Kid Rock in NYC back in 1998. It's funny hearing that story being retold in the documentary. I was one of about ten Placebo fans in the audience. I remember talking to some girl who was talking about how dumb Americans are and how more intelligent English people were. She was moving to the UK soon, she hoped. Their commentary on their videos is not very self-depricating, like Suede are. Actually the Placebo videos are quite better and only a few videos seem dated. Maybe these guys will catch on in the USA one day.

I completely mean what the title says, after losing my first copy to an unfortunate stratch, I ordered it again due to my love of this dvd.
In all honesty, Placebo is my favorate musical group ever, and in my eyes, its hard for them to do wrong.
US fans should be pleased with the material, as its hard to find Placebo stuff in the US most of the time, most Americans will have probably never have seen Placebo music videos on TV. They will be pleased to see that the video qualities are high. The problem with many music videos today is that they are so horribly boring compared to lots of the one's of the past. Placebo thankfully don't adhere to this and do some wonderfully weird and interesting storyline videoes and the general performance video's live up to quality as well. One more great thing is the highly amusing commentary tracks on each video where the band pours out their thoughts on each one. Other extra's such as a live performance with Bowie, and one with Justin Warfield rapping(now of "She Wants Revenge"), plus a 30 minute interview with the group, make this disc essential for the true fan.
If you love Placebo, you won't regret this purchase one bit.

Since MTV only plays videos of pop and rap anymore, one never gets to see the videos that are actually artistic. The stlyes of the Placebo videos vary, with several being futuristic and one being seemingly inspired by the 1987 film InnerSpace.

The songs represented by the videos are great and there are some cool bonus features too.

I finally got around to buying this dvd a few weeks ago.. and every video on it is great! I have watched it several times. In my opionon, Placebo is one of the best bands out today... and this captures how unique they are. It includes a long interview with the band members telling stories, and some live footage as well. If your a placebo fan, you must own this.

This DVD is more than what you can expect from a Greatest Hits DVD. I has all the videos (of course) untill the year of its release. But it also has several special features and live performances that are a great plus for this DVD. The DVD menu is great, with all the single covers and great animation. It also have subtitles commentaries and other features. If you like placebo, you must have this DVD.

It's awesome, if you really are a placebo fan it's necessary to know where with what songs they started with and their progress through the years. Also the documentary is very good you get to here stries of the past so it's way to get to know the group better.

The only real disappointment I had with this DVD is the fact that the video for "Come Home" is missing!

All in all, beautiful videos and of course, excellent music :D

These videos are awesome, fun to watch, and Molko looks amazing (especially in the "Taste in Men" video). Every devout Placebo fan should own this collection.

Words can't begin to describe how great this DVD is and how long I've waited for this. This is an excellent catalog of all of Placebo's videos from 36 Degrees to Twenty Years. If you've never seen Placebo's videos before, do yourself a favor and buy this. It's well worth the reasonable price. It's also packed full of extras. Each video stands alone and tells a different story. No repeats here. A wonderful DVD of a wonderful band's videos. For another great Placebo DVD check out their Live in Paris DVD.
