A new voice to be heard...,
By CitizenT "Tom" (Utah, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Placelessness (Dig) (Audio CD)
For any fan of the power and song-writing of PJ Harvey, the dark filled lyrics and off-beat musical talent of Alina Simone will seem familiar...and welcomed. But Alina sings from a different place...her latest 'Placelessness' seems to come from an urban landscape that is recognizable, but not quite your own. There is a very tangible emotion to her music and lyrics, but it also leaves one guessing...searching. Dark and mysterious, but hopeful at the same time. Definitely worth supporting this talented artist...after all, once you hear her you will agree, there is so much more to come from Alina Simone.Listen to 'Black Water', 'Nightswimming' and 'Pacifica' for a good sample.

Her best album yet,
By Jcole "JCole" (PA) - See all my reviews

Some albums are loaded with cheeky hooks that get tired, and old with repeated listens. This album comes alive with repeated listens because of it's substance and sincerity. You can't beat that.

Magnificent,
This review is from: Placelessness (Dig) (Audio CD)
There are tracks here that are as good as anything in Indie-rock. Unlike her somewhat lugubrious earlier work, on Placelessness Alina shimmers and shines, working her way to piercing epiphanies. Listen to Pacifica, Saw Edged Grass and Riot Act and I promise this CD won't leave your player!
