In all honsety, this album is on my top 5 favorite albums of 2003. It's definitly on my top 25 all time.

Yeah, it's that good.

Places For Breathing kicks off with the radio hit 'Caught in the Rain,' and doesn't let you breathe until the end. Yes, there are acoustic tracks in the middle like 'Seven' and 'Places For Breathing' but they don't let you breathe any less. The songs, all of them, acoustic or hard, are emotional powerhouses. The lyrics always seem to match so well with the music behind them, and the melodies are a triumph.

What I like most about this band is on a lot of the songs there is a progression from soft to hard. They warm you up, and then give you a workout the last half of the song. Many bands have tried this (Creed, Limp Bizkit, etc.) in the past, but it just doesn't sound perfected. Revis' sound is perfected, polished, and obviously the result of some very hard work.

This CD is one example of hundreds of bands that have so much talent but because of Britney Spears and the like, will never get up to where they deserve. The cool thing is they don't care and keep making music. I cannot wait for Revis' next CD to come out. It's sure to be a powerhouse.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is Rock at its best., June 24, 2003
This review is from: Places for Breathing (Audio CD)
Another band hitting the Rock Genre, is a band called REVIS. Unlike most bands, Revis is able to unleash an excellent first single ("Caught In The Rain"), and wrap it all up with an excellent CD to go along with it. From hearing all the good things about Revis, I went and jumped on this album. (Not Literally...but you get what I mean.) This first moment I completely listened to this album, I was very glad to hear how great this cd was put together. With 11 complete rock tracks, I felt ready to listen to more! Unlike "The Exies" (another rock band), REVIS is able to hit hard with a brillant single, and compose even more great tracks. Trust me on this one, THIS IS A MUST BUY ALBUM! You won't be disapointed. Revis is a band that will continue unleashing great tunes, and great cds. Two thumbs up!

SONGS

1. Caught In The Rain - 5/5 - Excellent single, perfect way to start this cd.
2. Your Wall - 5/5 - Another great song by Revis.
3. Spin - 5/5 - One of my favs. on this cd. Great lyrics.
4. Seven - 5/5 - Nice slow/rockin song by Revis.
5. Straight Jacket Labels 5/5 - The great songs continue.
6. Living Rooms - 4/5 - Great song.
7. Re Use - 5/5 - Brillant chorus! Slow at the start, but rocks with the chorus.
8. City Beneath - 5/5 - Good song also.
9. Everything After - 4/5 - Great song.
10. Places For Breathing - 5/5 - Perfect song, and like someone else said, this one should be last. It finishes perfect.
11. Look Right Through Me - 4/5 - Good song, should be Track 10, not 11.

P>Revis has unleashed a great cd, so make sure to pick it up now!

Other band's cd to listen to:
COLD - "Year of the Spider"
COLD - "13 Ways To Bleed On Stage"

Thanks,
Just Got Wicked

5.0 out of 5 stars Another from Daredevil..., May 27, 2003

This review is from: Places for Breathing (Audio CD)
Ok now I have been waiting for this since I heard Caught in the Rain on the Daredevil Soundtrack. Now some another group to check out from the soundtrack is Evanescence. Ok heres a song by song review.

1)Caught in the Rain(5/5)-Probablly the reason youre getting this, enough said.
2)Your Wall(5/5)-Pretty cool one of my favorites on the cd, he sounds the most angry here than in any other song.
3)Spin(5/5)-My second favorite its short but so's this cd. The chorus is great.
4)Seven(5/5)-The best one on the cd, starts of slow then gets louder as the song goes, the chorus is awesome.
5)Straight Jacket Labels(4/5)-The cd starts to lose its edge here, pretty good.
6)Living Rooms(4/5)-Ok, Once again the chorus...great.
7)Re Use(4/5)-OK, Fun to listen to.
8)City Beneath(4/5)-It picks up here but not by much, pretty wierd.
9)Everything After(4/5)-ok song, a little repetative.
10)Places for Breathing(5/5)-Really soft, but cool, the end is awesome.
11)Look Right Through Me(4/5)-Longest on the cd, ok ending to the cd, I think #10 should be last though.

As you can see this is not the best but this band is very talented, better than Good Charolette(How'd did a not..em...the best group get so popular, wait, teenage girls who think they're hot)They have a bright future if they keep this up.

5.0 out of 5 stars REVIS, I AM VERY SAD., February 21, 2005
This review is from: Places for Breathing (Audio CD)
To start off, this band is simply amazing. Their music just lifts me up and makes me feel something that I have never experienced before in music. They have this meloncholy, joy of emotion sound that I have never heard in a band before. I just can't describe it. And whats more interesting, is that this band only has one album. I should be saying the word had because I feel that Places for Breathing will be their only album. I don't even know if the band is even together anymore (Their fan site sure isnt telling me crap because nothing is updated). Places for Breathing, which is their most recent and only album came out on May 20th, 2003 and that is a hell of a long time for such a talented band to go on without writing for so long. The last post on their fan site is two years old and their most recent concert was in april of 2004!!! I just want to know what went wrong. Were they dropped from their label and then never played again. Did they slit up? Did a member die? I guess I would just simply like to know what happened thats all; find some resolution. It is honestly, distressing to not know.

Anyway, thats life I guess. It's just sad thats all. Such a good band could of had so much more going on for them. But if its going to be this one album that will be apart of their legacy, then it's one damn good album. But I will still always leave room for hope. It would just be nice to keep your FANS updated. Revis, to me, you are everything that music and good songwriting should be. Thank you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great and suprising CD..., June 10, 2003
This review is from: Places for Breathing (Audio CD)
I bought this album for the fact that their first single Caught in the Rain was really good and I figured the band could build off that single to build a really good CD, and they truly did. For the discovery price it is being listed as of right now, you can't pass it up. Seven, in my opinion is the best song on the CD, but every song follows closely. Revis did what every debut band should do, and that's build off an explosive first single, and make a CD that no one should pass up. Defintely worth every penny, and this makes a case for one of the better rock albums I will probably pick up in 2003.

5.0 out of 5 stars Favorite Rock CD, September 14, 2006
This review is from: Places for Breathing (Audio CD)
There comes only a few times in your life when you discover a CD that hits every emotion, cord, and musical taste in your body and soul. A CD that you play 35 times in 4 days and cant believe you havent gotten sick of it yet. Revis is the band that did it for me. I discovered this band during my senior year of college (3 years ago) on an internet radio station. "Seven" was the song. I turned the volume up in awe, realizing that I had come upon a song that I thought was above anything I had listened to recently. I immediately recognized that this was the same band that wrote "caught in the rain", a song that I had been listening to off of the "Daredevil" movie soundtrack for 6 months already. It took no thought to buy the CD or keep it as my music of choice for the next year. "Your Wall" hit nerves I had never felt before while weightlifting; "Look Right Through Me" and "Living Rooms" made me want to cry, and "Spin" helped me through the emotional toils of senior year. The band is rumored to have broken up, which in my mind is devastating. They will be forever one of the most potent rock bands I've ever listened to. A rock band that I will recommend to everyone and anyone who listens to music for that emotional appeal that is discovered only a handful of times throughout your life.

5.0 out of 5 stars I've been standing in the rain for years now., August 13, 2005
By
Mr. Nonsense (My Computer, Michigan) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Places for Breathing (Audio CD)
I hear whispers that the band Revis may not have broken up. I pray that this is true! The band itself, and information about them is so elusive (even on the internet!) and I can't be sure as to whether I should say it was a good thing while they were here, or keep my hopes held tightly against my chest. Only time will tell, I suppose.

If you were to ask me what my favorite album out of all my music I own is, I would say, unwavering and unblinking, Places For Breathing. I, unlike most of Revis fans, did not hear Caught In the Rain on Daredevil first. I discovered Revis, believe it or not, browsing through Target. I was in the media section of the deptment store waiting for my family to finish their business in the other parts of the store when my attention was caught by the tvs that are forever tuned in the the Target network, or whatever the heck it is with its cheezy hosts and corny advertisements. The network was playing music videos, occasionally taking breaks to advertise for other products, and making sure that we all know that we can get whatever we see on those screens without ever leaving the store (and all for great prices!) A music video nabbed my interest, and I sat down with nothing better to do than watch more. A few music videos played before one showed up that really interested me. It was a blank room with some chairs in it, flashing back and fourth between a band, the chairs, and some pretty girl. I turned up the tv so I could hear the song, and immediately fell in love with it.

I bought Places For Breathing that day, and I wasn't dissapointed. It's two years later, and I still listen to the CD.

1. Caught in the Rain - Through much debate, I have officially declared this my favorite song. The bridge of the song does exactly what a rock song should do: it sends chills up your spine. If I knew that I would be listening to this album so much, and after two years still feeling the music that much, I would have bought this album without a second thought. 10/10

2. Your Wall - Not my favorite of the album, and takes a little getting used to, but the dreamy style is something that Revis uses again and again. 9/10

3. Spin - One of the first songs I got hooked on off of the album. The chorus is very catchy (if not a little morbid) and it's a well written song. 9/10

4. Seven - Revis' intended second single off the album that, for some reason, never took off. I suppose this could be one of those songs that you either love or hate. The sad, melancholic lyrics go well with Revis' dreamy effects. 9/10

5. Straight Jack Labels - A hard song that takes you by surprise. The beginning is quiet, soft guitar, but you know something is up. Then they hit you with a hard riff and send you spiraling into the song. Great musical work here. 10/10

6. Living Rooms - Another quiet beginning with heavy body to it. Very catchy lyrics with heavy accompanyment that makes the song stick in your head for hours. 10/10

7. Re-Use - My second favorite on the album (and that's saying a lot when put next to 'My Favorite Song'). Revis makes use of the quiet beginning again and then slams in a heavy chorus of singing. The dreamy echoes before the verses give me chills. Awesome lyrics. 10/10

8. City Beneath - A faster song that just skips the slow beginning. Catchy and to the point musically. Takes advantage of the lead singer's voice once more. 10/10

9. Everything After - Another charged song, but works in some of the dreamy effects. A catchy chorus seperates the trippy verses. 10/10

10. Places For Breathing - I suppose you could call this one of the slow songs of the album. There is a part where it gets heavy, but most of the song is the almost creepy dreamy music that Revis is oh so good at. 9/10

11. Look Right Through Me - The album goes out quietly with the last two songs, as though you were peacefully waking from a dream. I like the way it all ends, but this better not be the end of Revis. 9/10

5.0 out of 5 stars Original lyrics and great sound, August 9, 2006
This review is from: Places for Breathing (Audio CD)
First heard a Revis song (Caught in the Rain) come out of a computer game and when I heard samples of the album I decided to give it a go... Good choice! This is an excellent CD with a good combination of solid, strong lyrics with variable paced melodies, Revis really know how to set the mood of their songs. Highly recommended.

This review is from: Places for Breathing (Audio CD)
Caught In The Rain, undeniably Revis's biggest hit, hooked me into their world. Apparently after 2 more songs liked by them, i stopped paying attention to them. Big mistake. Although I don't own this i will say that almost every song is enjoyable, it just takes some time to enjoy, such as the last track.

Too bad we haven't heard from these guys in awhile, just hope they are coming back for another round (or i think they are i just forgot).

Anyways favorites are:

Caught In The Rain

Seven

Straight Jacket Labels

Living Rooms - Number one favorite, it just balances right, but too short

Re-Use

City Beneath

5.0 out of 5 stars A Excellent Purchase., November 1, 2005
This review is from: Places for Breathing (Audio CD)
I must say this album was well worth the money I paid for it. I bought it after hearing the track "Seven" on internet radio. I had already heard "Caught in the Rain" before I just didnt know who it was untill I bought the CD. From the start I enjoyed the whole album. The only track I didnt care for was the last track, Track 11, "Look Right Through Me". Its not a terrible song, I just dont find anything that causes me to wanna hear it again unless played in concession with the rest of the album. Great points on the album are Track 10 "Places For Breathing", Track 5 "Seven",Track 2 "Your Wall, and Track 3 "Spin". These songs are well written, catchy and you will find yourself wanting to hear them again.

1. Caught In The Rain - 10/10

2. Your Wall - 10/10

3. Spin - 10/10

4. Seven - 10/10

5. Straight Jacket Labels - 9.5/10

6. Living Rooms - 10/10

7. Re Use - 9/10

8. City Beneath - 10/10

9. Everything After - 8.5/10

10. Places For Breathing - 10/10

11. Look Right Through Me - 6/10

Overall: 92% A-

All I can say is it's a very fine piece of work. Anyone who likes bands within this Genre should probably go out and purchase this CD. It's just good modern Alt Metal.
