5.0 out of 5 stars Just Plain Amazing
The Devil Wears Prada takes you through many different musical landscapes. They push the limits of what we know as metalcore. Instead of just breakdowns and fast double pedals mixed with blast beats we get some substances.

First you will hear epic metal, then death metal, then math metal, then metalcore, then hardcore, then something you've never heard...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not a good experience
The case came all shattered and broken, however, the CD was fine! I just wish they could use a better packaging method

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Plain Amazing, August 21, 2007
This review is from: Plagues (Audio CD)
The Devil Wears Prada takes you through many different musical landscapes. They push the limits of what we know as metalcore. Instead of just breakdowns and fast double pedals mixed with blast beats we get some substances.

First you will hear epic metal, then death metal, then math metal, then metalcore, then hardcore, then something you've never heard before. They take the term metalcore to the next level. The songs are still brutal but they do add some soft vocals to mix up the songs. Usually what they do is add an echo effect for extra emphasis. It works perfectly when coupled with the music. They also have a keyboard player that lays down some great keyboard work. Sometimes a little quirky and seemingly out of place but always it will be the parts you remember the most (in a good way).

The Devil Wears Prada decided to make something different then their past effort. To show they have matured in ways and to show they aren't headed for the mainstream as well. They still are hardcore and different enough to warrant the elites to love them and still scene enough to rack in the scene kids. Obviously scene kids are pretty dumb because they follow anything but this is too good to pass up just because of that. Drop Dead, Gorgeous on the other hand....

The music is beautifully edited and configured in such a way that it lends itself to the listeners emotions. This is the kind of music that can push you through emotional moods unlike any other. The lyrics are what you would expect from TDWP. Insightful, religious, and thoughtful. They talk about fallen from faith, materialism, and the hope of our future. Don't call them emo because you don't see much if at all stuff about relationships.

If you want to hear the full spectrum listen to "Hey John, What's Your Name Again?" and "This Song is Called". Those songs show their depth and hopefully their staying power in this scene. I think they will lead the sub genre and move past cookie cutter metalcore to show people the ability they have to create something amazing.

Pick this CD up now and then go see them live!

5.0 out of 5 stars So good, such a new sound., July 17, 2008
This review is from: Plagues (Audio CD)
I'm going to make this a short one, as everybody else has beaten it to death. I was not prepared for what I heard when I picked this album up. I had seen the very last song of their set at The Bamboozle and was blown away. This album completely redefines what it is to be metal, what is to be hardcore, and what it is to combine the two. The synergy created by all of their different sounds blended together is just incredible. They'll grind it out in one moment, and then blow you away with some of the heaviest metal riffs you've ever heard. Recommend this album for certain!

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST METALCORE ALBUM OF THE YEAR(so far), August 25, 2007
This review is from: Plagues (Audio CD)
The Devil Wears Prada in my opinion not only deserves the Title for best metalcore band of the year but also comeback band of the year. Their last album was sub-par to say the least but on their latest release Plagues, The Devil Wears Prada unleashes a fury that is both brutal and beautiful and at the same time showing talent and originality rarely seen anymore in this genre that is quickly becoming stale.

5.0 out of 5 stars plagues, August 25, 2007
This review is from: Plagues (Audio CD)
What a big step up for these guys! Wow! Like one reviewer already said, it's way more mature than their last album. The music is very "scene", but you just have to look past that. I don't buy an album just because "oh it's totally hot right now, and if i wanna be 'scene' i gotta buy it", i buy an album if the band appeals to me. The Devil Wears Prada drew me in with the song "Dogs Can Grow Beards All Over". I've been a fan ever since. With "Plagues" you'll get everything you loved about the last album, only perfected. very epic, progressive metalcore. Enough said

5.0 out of 5 stars A Truly Mature Album, August 22, 2007
This review is from: Plagues (Audio CD)
I listened to Dear Love awhile back and I was impressed. But I wasn't blown away by it. I thought they could definitely improve but they had talent. This album was everything I wanted to hear from them and more. This is one of the best releases I have heard in a long time. TDWP has completely amazed me, and I was not expecting it at all. I actually thought Dear Love would be superior. I was dead wrong. This album is a true masterpiece of the metal genre.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Amazingly GREAT., September 5, 2007
This review is from: Plagues (Audio CD)
I got the leak of this CD 3 weeks before it came out and was probably expecting it to not be as good as their first album. Man, was I wrong. This is probably one of the best overall albums I've ever heard in my life. Every single track is strong and unrelenting. I have listened to this album from start to finish maybe over 150 times already in just a month. This CD is everything you'd want in a Metalcore/Hardcore band. Breakdowns galore but still keeps it pretty and beautiful with the clean singing once in awhile. Gorgeous lyrics, it makes this band better knowing they aren't living the Drugs/Sex/Rock&Roll lifestyle either. That doesn't mean you have to have those values just to listen to this. This is a CD that scene kids AND musical elitists can enjoy. Pure Gold.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant!, January 4, 2010

This album is absolutely brilliant. I started with their new album and worked my way backwards. Their new album BLEW ME AWAY, and pretty much forced me to buy this album. At first, it seemed a little rough.. but after a couple listen's I had fallen in love. Beautiful and Brutal.. with great production values, this is one of the top metalcore albums I have ever heard. A must buy for any TDWP fan!!!

This album is really eclectic. From hardcore to metal core to high flying harmonies, it offers a lot! With a few 808's thrown in there, you can't go wrong with TDWP. Plagues is definitely one of there best! It will melt your face off.

5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING, September 3, 2007
This review is from: Plagues (Audio CD)
If you liked Dear Love and are afraid that the band may have "changed", never fear, TDWP totaly kills it on this one! more breakdowns, more lows and more brutality!
