They do not tell you on the label or in their advertising that unlike other Mod Podge products that dry clear, THIS Mod Podge dries WHITE.

I REALLY REALLY REALLY wanted to love this product. And this was a big ole experiment having never seen this product in any stores.

I find, universally that Mod Podge makers are not very good at giving thorough information on their products. I do a LOT of transfer techniques, including image transfer techniques on fabric. And I could not get my questions answered before purchase, so I knew I would have to just try and see.

At first glace, this looked to be a great solution to other fabric transfer methods that require curing, special chemical treatments etc (I have used specially treated fabrics and run directly through the digital printer).

Here is what I did not expect:
-Medium is WHITE and OPAQUE! No matter the fabric under, this will be a slightly rubbery, white paint, that may give an undesired effect around your transfer.

You may or may not want that effect. Be sure to test this first using the image you want to transfer. You MIGHT be able to paint or mask the medium onto the fabric, to the size and shape of the transfer image you wan; and not see any of the Transfer Medium. I can see that working well, but depends on the image and fabric color, pattern, etc.

-Adds some thickness to the fabric. I would not use this on fine or silky fabrics, as the medium is a little bit the consistency of acrylic paints. You can thin it, but too much and your image wont transfer well...which could ALSO be a cool effect.

Other than that, be neat and think carefully about the fact that the medium will become part of your design/transfer on your fabric: you will have a white area on any colored fabric (great for transferring onto dark fabrics.

I tried to make a photo quilt with this, as Pinterest would have me believe is simple. When you go to rub off the paper, it also wets the modge podge (I waited 1 week for it to dry completely onto my fabric) and the mod podge layer starts removing itself from the fabric or wrinkling. I had 23 photos and not one of them remained suitably attached to the fabric.

I went to SpoonFlower and ordered my pictures printed on fabric. MUCH better and cheaper!!! about $18/yd. I suggest you go that route if doing a Photo Quilt.

After several attempts to get a good photo transfer I have to conclude that this product just is not reliable enough. It is straightforward to get 90% of the image transferred but there will always be blank spots where the image did not adhere to the solution. If you are looking for a weathered / worn look that is okay, but not for new / clean look.

Wanted to do a wood photo transfer and was directed to use this by a Michaels store clerk. I did a sample and it turned out ok, but this stuff dries white which is not ideal for any application on wood. I then went big time and used it on a piece of wood that I spent hours laboriously prepping for the transfer. Turned out that only half of the image transferred. Literally only the top half of the image transferred and I have no idea why. I used as instructed and the same as I did on my small sample piece. I was left with half of a not so good image transfer and the other half hard as glue white. I tried sanding, but that was taking to long to remove by hand as I do not have any power sanders. I then tried alcohol to remove and that had no effect. I then used a torch to try and melt the substance but that did nothing but scorch the wood below it. Then acetone and that seemed to work decent and then I stepped it up and used brake parts cleaner. (In my experience, break parts cleaner is the king of removal. It will strip just about anything) It turned it into a goo that I could scrape away with a putty knife. Had to use a respirator and then spent several hours after that re sanding the tiny crevices of the wood to get the white out. Was extremely frustrating and if I wasn't stubborn I would have abandoned the project and given up. It was disastrous. I then did more research and found Golden Gel Medium which works amazingly well, and also dries clear. Go Golden and skip the Podge for transfers. I know Mod Podge has a wide product line and I use some of them for other purposes and they work great, but I will never use it for a photo transfer again.

Had ordered some other transfer medium that was shipped from a cold storage place. This stuff was left outside in below 0 temps - still works perfect!
