Thier Best Since 'Rated X' And That's Saying Something, February 2, 2004
This review is from: Plainfield Cemetary (Audio CD)
Unlike the majority of veterans in the genre, Swedish death metal lords Deranged have shown to hold true and bitter to their ultra brutal and harsh craft thus making their triumphant return, `Plainfield Cemetery', an actually worthwhile and necessary album. Immediately sounding like the soundtrack to a slaughter, `Plainfield Cemetery' unleashes ten fierce tracks of pure brutal metal fury. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the album is new vocalist / bassist Calle Faldt completely destroying the competition we his absolutely mind blowing performance on the microphone. Lyrically the album is even more gruesome, evil, and violent their previous material, but the lyrics are screamed out in an almost poetic fashion. The guitar work on this album is absolutely fantastic, so many memorable riffs and hooks it is nauseating. One of the other aspects of this record that I am having a hard time wrapping my mind around is the ultra fast drumming. I mean this guy knows how to play with almost godlike precision. So basically `Plainfield Cemetery' is an all around technical death metal feast of delectable death, blood, and carnage that will satisfy the metal purist's extravagant hunger and need for such a perfect album. "Stab and Hack" and "Beaten, Raped, and F ucking Left to Die" are the true highlights of the album, the first on which being one of the best death metal songs of the year! Fans of pure death metal will salivate when listening to this prime example of brutal metal. Deranged `Plainfield Cemetery' is an album that leaves Malevolent Creation and Morbid Angel in the dust, it is an album that is more that just death metal, it is an album that is truly perfect.

Plainfield Cemetery - Deranged, March 24, 2006
Subtle, intense; disturbing. The very pinnacle of the 'death metal' genre, this 'meisterwerk' has perhaps exemplified the boundary of audio-emotive determinacy...

I can't add much, December 8, 2005

that the others didn't say. This album is probably one of the most brutal death metal cds ever. The sound is perfect: heavy, super fast, and single-mindedly out to destroy your brain. The vox are a little dry, but still really brutal. Like another reviewer said, the guitarist blasts out some awesome squeals, and the drummer is extremely heavy and talented. Really, if you like brutal death metal, this cd will make your day. Another intense death metal album that I would recommend with this is Aeon's "Bleeding the False."
