I purchased this tea set as a Christmas gift for two little girls to go along with their other 'kitchen themed' presents. I liked it because it was wooden and seemed more substantial than many of the other sets I had seen. Their mother says they love it! She says they pretend to have tea all day long, and the set features realistic tea bags, which are not pictured in the photo here.

The tea set is quite small, which others think that it's a bad idea, but not the kids who play with it. It's almost perfect for their little hands.
Rubber Wood is and has been the best natural raw material for wooden toys. Melisa and Dough's toys are crawling somewhere way back in the quality for wood as well as paint. If you are looking for QUALITY rather than for quantity, this is the way to go! Your kids will be thanking you! Note: I didn't give the review until my children had a test drive for over a month with this tea set! PLANT TOYS ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My son received this from his grandma for Christmas. She thinks that all children boy or girl need to have a tea set. She knows how I feel about plastic so she was able to find this one. What I like about Plan toys compared to Melisa and Doug is that the colored areas on Plan Toys will not chip. Its more like a deep stain then a chip-able paint. I have to keep the sugar cubes put away until my son is older. I was afraid he could choke on one if he put in his mouth. Also they would be easy to lose. But they are a charming feature esp. for an older child. The set is small in size but really the perfect size for small hands. I love to have tea parties with my son because of how fun these are.

My 3.5 and 1.5 received this as a Christmas present. It is delightful to play with. The lids on the tea pot and sugar pot get a lot of action, the tea bags/sugar cubes/stir sticks are very fun too. Yes, everything is small because it is pretend. Great quality and it stores compactly, all the little things will fit in the tea pot. We got the fun little Haba play cakes at the same time.
If you are concerned about size, the wooden sugar cubes are small, then store them until later. We have a single ziploc bag which keeps tiny playmobil pieces or whatever until later. I debated between this and the Green Toys (all well reviewed, food safe, and "green") and bought that one for my niece. We just like wood better. Both were a lot of fun but this is nicer. I just wish it had or I could buy extra tea cups.

The seams on the tea pot are obvious. It is clear precisely where two pieces of wood were glued together. I'm worried they may come apart if it falls. Not the finest craftsmanship. The glue used to put the handle on the tea pot is clearly visible. Also, the sugar pieces and stirrers are TINY! I would be concerned for any child to handle it, even one over three. The handles on the cups are very hard to handle for little hands or big hands. They are also tiny. The set looks lovely from a distance, but not very practical and not very well made. I'm surprised. Plan Toys are usually well made. Also, if you are seeing this for more than 44 dollars PLUS shipping, that is certainly not worth it for this set. I bought it for 28 dollars with no shipping a week ago. Better to pass this one by.

I ordered this knowing that plan wooden play food is SMALL! I really loved this one because of the tea bags and the sugar cubes along with the color, not too girly looking! It was better then expected and I am so excited to have a nice play food tea set now. It is tiny, but no smaller then the tupperware kids items for play. If you had a little one I could see where the sugar cubes and tea bags could be a hazard, but it is made for 3 and up for that reason.
Perfect for what I wanted!

my son received this as a gift almost a year ago. he is 3 and my daughter is one and they both play with it on a daily basis. perfect size for their little kitchen and little hands.
the wood has a nice feel to it which i like. like one reviewer, i put the sugar cubes up until my littlest learns not to put everything in her mouth.

I bought one of these for a Christmas gift for my kids (2011). As soon as I took it out of the package and saw/held the pieces, I ordered another one. I just loved everything (except the spoons, see below) about this tea set. I have two boys ages 5 and 3, and an 18 month old girl. Since Christmas when they opened the sets, at least one of my children has played with this set every day. They absolutely love this tea set (as do I). Yes, it is small, but tea sets are supposed to be small for little kids. I don't understand some of the reviews saying that the handles are too difficult to hold. Neither my children or I have a problem holding the cups by the handles. Not only that, but you don't have to hold onto the red handle of the cup, you can put your hand around the cup and hold it that way. They are of great quality. My 18 month old puts everything into her mouth, so I have the sugar cubes put away until she is older. I do have the tea bags out with the set, but we keep the set out of her reach and I always watch her when they are playing with the set. So far for some weird reason, she has not put the tea bags in her mouth yet. None of my pieces have visible seams as one reviewer stated. I guess she just got a bad piece. As I'm sure you have noticed, this is a wooden tea set and is NOT to be used with liquids of any sort. I found it hard to believe that some people were putting liquids in this wooden tea set! If you want a tea set to use with liquids for your kids, then I highly recommend the Green Toys tea set (made in the USA, recycled, and completely safe plastic). I have one for my kids that we keep outside and they LOVE using water with it pretending that it is tea or coffee (it is an awesome little tea set). My only complaint about the Plan set, and it is a minor one, is the spoons. The spoons are very cute, but the top of the spoon is flat instead of having an indent in it like spoons have. At first I thought they were little stir sticks, until I saw on the box that they are spoons. Other than wishing that the spoons actually looked like spoons, I love this set. So if you want a great wooden tea set like I did to match all the wooden Plan food we have, then get the Plan Toys set. If you want a colorful plastic set to use with liquids, then get the Green Toys tea set. They are both great products.

I love this company. They make great toys out of sustainable woods and safe paints. Great for my little one and for my conscience. My only disappointment is that it is REALLY small. i mean really, really small. The little cups are hard to hold. the tea bags are super cute.

My grandson loved this tea set. He is 19 months and has spent copious amounts of time playing with the tea set; serving us pretend tea and having a log of fun. The only thing I can warn you about is the tiny sugar cubes and tea bags which although fun, are small and could be easily lost or put in the mouth by a smaller child.
