5.0 out of 5 stars Inspires better breakfast choices!
This set is a great way to get your toddler interested in eggs. I love that there is a fried egg and a boiled egg that "cracks" The salt and pepper make noise as you shake them over the food. You can even make a Bacon egg and cheese sandwich, that stays flat. I don't know why there is a bun included with this set, but maybe that is for other cultures. GO DIVERSITY...

2.0 out of 5 stars Paint Comes Off --What sort of paint is this??
This is the third Plan toy we have acquired. The first was a stacking cone, which our daughter really liked, but the paint was unstable on that toy- if you rubbed your hand on it, color came off on your hand-- and it just kept coming off over time! I wrote the company to ask what sort of paint they are using and to explain what was happening but no response ever came...

The sausage is a little scary looking, looks more like a hot dog and Grace uses it to stir things with. Oh well, you can't expect every toy to look like the food you serve. The tray is fantastic. It's a great way to encourage walking carefully, so nothing tips. It stores everything when not in use. I am happy to report that Grace has tried eggs, unfortunately, still does not like them, but I am hopefull!

A good, safe, non-toxic food set for the kids to play with. Got this the same time as some Melissa & Doug food sets. The M&D toys smelled really bad coming out of the package, whereas the Plan Toys didn't smell at all. The food looks fairly real, and the kids enjoy playing with it. Pieces are a tad on the small size, but perfect for little hands. I would recommend this over the M&D sets.

My 3-year-old daughter loves to play with this set. She especially likes the salt and pepper shakers because they are so realistic. She also likes to carry around the tray and serve the food from it. The food is the perfect size for her hands and is proportional to her kitchen play set. These durable wooden toys are providing hours of imaginative play.

this was the first Plan toy I purchased for my son. I was hooked. I am so sick of plastic junk painted with toxic substances. if you want a safe, durable toy, pay a little more and support reputable companies.

My boys love this set- the egg opens, adding extra fun. The tray is so useful and versatile. Another great value from Plan Toys.

I was hesitant to get this because it seemed so specific, just breakfast foods, whereas items like wooden veggies seemed more open ended. I was wrong, it can be played with many different ways. The bread and cheese can be made into a sandwich and the bread fits our plan toy toaster. The salt and pepper shakers, which make a pleasant sound when shaken, can be put out on the table for any pretend meal. The roll can also go with any meal (and isn't very breakfasty anyway). The hard boiled egg can be egg salad with the bread. The bacon can go on a blt sandwich. The sausage can be a hot dog. The fried egg has not been made into anything but breakfast but that's ok. Even the tray can be used for anything. The set is a great size and goes great with our plan toys and haba wooden foods. The only thing I might change about it is the bacon, it's just a plain brown piece of wood so it's difficult to identify as bacon when it's not with the set and just seen out of context.

I highly recommend this set. Both my boy and girl play with it and the toddler is able to join in because none of the pieces are too small for him (although I'm not sure it's recommended for children under three).

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Toy, July 26, 2008

We got this for my daughter's first birthday. The Amazon review just states 3 years and over, but not that it is a choking hazard, so we took some of the smaller pieces away. The set in general is a bit smaller than we expected. However, she really really likes it, and points out the different pieces of food to us. I definitely recommend this product.

This is the third Plan toy we have acquired. The first was a stacking cone, which our daughter really liked, but the paint was unstable on that toy- if you rubbed your hand on it, color came off on your hand-- and it just kept coming off over time! I wrote the company to ask what sort of paint they are using and to explain what was happening but no response ever came. A friend gave us the Plan toaster set and the paint was stable on that toy (that is, it left no paint residue on our hands). And NOW, certain items on the breakfast tray (like the toast) are also leaving major paint marks on our hands and on other toys. I am a professional artist so am puzzling over this paint and what the problem is with it. They seem not to be using the same type of paint consistently on their products. There is no reason why a high quality, non-toxic paint should be leaving these sorts of residues. I can only guess that they are buying whatever comes up at a given time. Notably, though they advertise the non-toxic nature of the paint, they don't say what sort of paint it is. Also, the tray is made of plywood. It is an adorable looking toy, but I won't be ordering any more Plan toys after this experience. Next step is to test the paint for lead residues.

I bought this for my kid's (ages 2-4) play kitchen and they really have had fun with it. I was a little disappointed with the size. Everything was a bit smaller than I had imagined it would be but the kids didn't seem to have a problem with that at all. In fact, I think it's the perfect size for their little hands.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for 18-month toddler, November 18, 2011

This toy develops toddlers' balance, posture, and ability to carry a tray without everything falling off. Ideal for 18-24 months for developing these skills; afterwards they can still use this for pretend play. The bacon is not realistic, but otherwise this is a great set!
