This review is from: Planar 997-5253-00 Dual Monitor Stand (Black) (Personal Computers)
This is an exceptional product! I love products that are carefully and attractively designed like this - products that blend form and function in the perfect way.
Seems silly to get excited about a monitor stand? But I am delighted with this - possibly even more so than I am about the 2nd monitor I bought it for. I have a 20" and a 22" monitors set up on it (though it could support larger, I'm sure because there is significant additional space on the support arms). Configuration is very stable - this is a heavy duty product. But at the same time, the stand is very elegantly designed and of superior quality. Looks very polished and professional from every angle. There is lots of flexibility to adjust arrangement of screens - much more than I anticipated given comments from some people. You can move screens up / down on main support bar and in / out on each support arm. I'm finding lots of room in both these directions. As well, you can tilt monitors quite far on their individual connetors - much, much further than i could with the orginal stands the monitors came with. By tilt, I mean both side-to-side and up-and-down (or forward/back, however is the right way to say it). And you can rotate each monitor 90 degrees or so if you want one or both monitors vertical (mine are both horizontal, but out of curiousity, I confirmed you can fully rotate both of them). I found assembly also pretty easy, including the part about connecting both screens single-handedly which some people described as very difficult. I did not find it so. Everything went together very nicely - and demonstrated how cleanly designed this product is. Note: I did not buy this product on Amazon because I did not see pictures for it. I bought instead at Newegg where they do have pictures and where product seems to be the most popular monitor stand they have (understandably so!). Prices were similar. Recap: this is a great product! highly recommend it if you are in the market for a dual monitor stand.

This is a great item. I use it to hold a Viewsonic 24in and Dell 24 in monitor. Good and sturdy. You might need a second person to help add both monitors to make it easier...would recommend this for a 2 monitor setup.

Solid, capable display stand,

I have this display stand holding two 24" widescreen monitors that are heavy as lead. It has performed admirably. With 24" screens, the amount of available adjustment is just enough to get them where I wanted. There wasn't a lot of extra room, but the stand delivered what the manufacturer said it would.
Once the monitors are mounted, their weight makes adjustments difficult. This is definitely not something that you will play with regularly unless your screens are small. Once you get it set though, it is solid, stable, and reliable. I highly recommend this stand if you want to put dual, large-screen monitors on a desktop.

I bought this stand while it was on sale and could not be happier. While it could be a bit taller, for the price it is sturdy and works perfectly. My biggest complaint is that once the monitors are mounted, it is tough to move the arms up and down for height adjustment. However, once you get the right height, it is perfect. And the articulation is great. I have two Asus 24" monitors mounted to this and it feels solid and well balanced. If it goes on sale again, I will by a second one for my wife. One recommendation is that if you do want to adjust the height, carefully lay down both monitors flat (face down) on a table with the stand just hanging off, disconnect them (one knob for each), adjust the arms, and then reattach the monitors. You may be able to adjust this while it is all connected if you have a second person to help, but at the time, I found it easier to just remove them and adjust as needed.

I knew I wanted a dual monitor stand to reclaim some desk space. I was on a budget and after reading review I settled on this one. I am very pleased with it for the price. I paid $89.99 but today (3 days later) its now listed at $129.99, not sure what is up with that. Its pretty sturdy and feels of good quality. I have a Dell 20 (non-widescreen) and a 24" dell widescreen and did not need any additional parts. I would recommend this if you are looking for a dual monitor stand ~$100.

FedEx just delivered mine ~30 minutes ago (I love Amazon Prime, use it ALL THE TIME!) It took me maybe 15 minutes to assemble it - without bothering to look at the instructions. The pictures on Amazon do not do this stand justice. The stand is definitely sturdy and it looks good too! I think this product is well worth the money. Get my monitors in tomorrow, and looking forward to my new dual monitor set-up.

This VESA mount is extremely sturdy. I'm able to put my two 23.6" ASUS monitors in any orientation I desire. The only thing that may be a problem for users with 24" monitors is that it may be difficult to turn them inward very far when they are both in landscape.

I work at home on the computer all day so a second monitor was needed. This stand is quite sturdy and flexible. I have a 22" monitor on one side and a 19" monitor on the other. I use my second monitor for chat and notes as I work on the project on the main monitor. I love the flexibility of the two monitors on the stand. I can pull it close, change the angle or rotate the monitor of one or both monitors as I am working. It is quite sturdy and I never feel like it will topple even though I have an asymmetrical setup. One note: It was a (insert bad word here) to set up by myself. It takes two or one strong person because you have to be able to hold or prop up one monitor whilst attaching the second.
At $89.99 I'd buy it again in a heartbeat

Planar Dual Monitor Stand is a winner,

This review is from: Planar 997-5253-00 Dual Monitor Stand (Black) (Personal Computers)
I wanted a good looking, solidly built and fully adjustable dual monitor stand. This Planar stand it exactly that.
Pros: Quality materials and well thought out design. Very easy to assemble (need a screwdriver). Positioning two monitors to fit on my corner desk was a snap. Cons: None. Details: My monitors are heavy enough that trying to connect them to the stand swing arms while the stand was in an upright position seemed to be a difficult balancing act. I found that it was much easier to lay the two monitors face down on a table before connecting the stand/swing arms to them. Also, The height at which the swing arms reside on the stand is determined by the position of a chrome ring that gets locked onto the stand center post with a retaining screw. Trying to adjust the height of the swing arms after the monitors have been attached, with the stand vertical was not easy - so I determined the height I wanted the bottom of the monitors to be above my desk, and used that measurement to position the chrome ring on the stand center post before setting the stand (with the monitors) upright. Conclusion: After positioning the stand on my desk, it was easy to center the monitors and adjust the viewing angles. I love my new monitor stand and highly recommend it.

Sturdy, simple and very well made. I had a problem a few years ago with a Planar monitor that was a few days out of warranty and Planar refused to honor the warranty or offer any service. I thought I would never consider another Planar product again. After reading the reviews of this, and noting the price, I thought I would try this stand. With Amazon's easy and simple return policy, I figured I would give it a whirl. Turns out this stand is excellent, especially for the money. Very well made and simple - Installation and setup was a snap and took me all of 10 minutes. There are only a few pieces to put together and adjustment of the monitors was straightforward. It articulates in all directions so you shouldn't have any problems with height, swivel or angle.
I have an older 19" 4:3 LCD on one side and a 25" widescreen on the other and it works beautifully. It is even balanced well with these odd sized monitors. You don't have to use 2 monitors that are exactly the same size. I think they say you can use 2 24" monitors but you could use a 15 and maybe even a 27 or something........If you do have differently sized monitors, before you buy, you should download the PDF from Planar's web site and look at the center to center distance from the drawing that shows what width the stand will accept from side to side. Then just measure the center to edge distance on the back of both your monitors, add them together and then compare that to the drawing shown in the PDF. Planar also makes a quad monitor stand that looks to be identical to this but only taller. If the quad stand will hold 4 monitors, then the dual stand is plenty sturdy as I can't see the quad being that much beefier - Looks like it is just a little taller to accomodate 2 more monitors. |
