Not quite what I expected.,

Well, I had expected to receive both the white AND the red light as displayed in the image, but was only shipped one light, the white one.
As for the ONE light I did get... Pros: -Very small and unobtrusive -simple to install and "one size fits all" -Two modes, blinking and steady, both of which are bright and visible to drivers at night. Cons: -Beam can not be adjusted or aimed, it's direction is entirely dependent on the angle of the bar you strap it to. -Not very powerful. While the light WILL make you visible to drivers, it does nothing to illuminate the road in front of you, and is of no use for avoiding potholes and other obstacles at night. All and all, the little light served it's intended purpose of improving my visibility on nighttime rides until I could afford to purchase a better set of lights/generator. Had I known I would only receive a single light I probably would not have picked this particular item, but if you don't mind paying 9 dollars for just the one, and are looking for a safety light rather than a headlight to guide your path, it's not bad.

Great little light for the commuter.,
This review is from: Planet Bike 3042 Spok LED Micro Headlight (Sports)
I commute year round in Iowa and this light performs well. It is bright enough to light the path (enough so that I can see) on the darkest parts of my commute. However, if you want a light primarily to light the way, it might be good to look elsewhere (it gets the job done, but others could do it better. For those worried about plastic durability on the clamp, you do not have to worry because the spok is held on by a velcro strap.

Perfect for the off-chance you have to ride in the dark,

This headlight is by no means a primary headlight. BUT, if you mostly ride in the day (in my case commuting), on the off-chance that it gets dark on you, it is a perfect light in that situation. It is lightweight and small, so it is not a problem to keep on the handlebars during daylight rides, then if you must ride in the dark, it does a good job keeping you visible - especially in flashing mode. Even without a regular headlamp, with city streets, it is decent enough for you to see the road ahead. Along with a headlamp, this is definitely nice to have for visibility's sake as a flasher.

We loved this product so much we ordered 3. Very bright little light. The velcro makes it a little easy to steal (as we learned) but then the velcro also makes it easy to remove when we park our bikes. Highly recommend this little light.

I have three of these on my bike helmet. I haven't ridden with it in that configuration yet, but even when I only had one on there, it was very helpful. Three of these should make me goofy-looking, or scary...either way, I will be noticed. And that's the point.Only drawback is it is white. Would love to see this in black. But that's not a knock on the quality of this item. It just looks kind of goofy on my grey and black helmet color scheme.

goes on helmet and blinks! I love it, very lightweight and bright. It has survived several New england rainstorms, too.

Great front light,
This review is from: Planet Bike 3042 Spok LED Micro Headlight (Sports)
I really enjoy this front light.
- It mounts and dismounts quickly to my bike via the velcro strap. - The rubber below the light prevents it from sliding around on your handlebars. - the velcro strap is big enough to easily mount to large and small handle bars. - This light falls into the category of allowing others to see you. It doesn't do a great job allowing you to see, but I don't think it was designed to do so. - I have mixed feelings about the battery. It takes a CR2032, which are expensive, but it keeps the light small and easy to stick in a pocket or bag. Ergo, there are no theft issues. I have had this light for a year and a half and it's still using the same battery. I generally commute at night 4-6 days a week. I would suggest this as a good light while riding in traffic at night.

It comes off when I drop my bike,
This review is from: Planet Bike 3042 Spok LED Micro Headlight (Sports)
This light has come off all three times I've dropped my bike.
The velcro mount, and base of the light housing stay on my bike, and the rest falls to the ground. I'm not talking dramatic crashes, just light spills. Once a kid accidentally just tipped the stationary bike over on the sidewalk. In none of these falls did anything acctually touch the light, which is mounted very close to the center of my handlebars. If this was designed correctly, it would stay on. The first time, it came off in one piece, and snapped right back on. The second time it came off and I had to scrounge around for all three pieces (the battery, the windshield, and the rest. And the third time the three pieces flew off separately _and_ the windshield shattered into three pieces. Fortunately the middle piece was pretty big, and now I've got a few rubber bands wrapped all around the thing to hold it on. So I guess the good news is that it does still work. Which is somewhat surprising, especially since the first time it fell off, I don't notice until my return trip, where I found that it had been soaking in a puddle for about 3 hours. I give this a second star because it didn't cost much and it does still work. |
