As with all Planet Bike products, the gel tape is backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

About Planet Bike
In November of 1996, Planet Bike was founded in Madison, Wisconsin. In many ways, Planet Bike began as a social experiment that dedicated itself to doing business in a different way. Instead of being just another company that develops and sells products with profit as its end goal, Planet Bike wanted to help bring about positive change for people, their communities, and the environment.

Despite being a simple machine, the people at Planet Bike have always believed that the bicycle has great potential to help improve the world and the lives of the people in it. From the start, they have embraced an alternative corporate purpose which seeks to help get more people on bicycles by making communities friendlier places for the self-propelled. By donating 25% of company profits to causes that promote and facilitate bicycle usage, Planet Bike hopes to make an impact.

Social experiments aside, Planet Bike was born from the heart of a cyclist with a goal of making innovative, high quality, and practical bicycle accessories. Simply put, they strive to design and develop the best bicycle products in the world. In the company's short ten year history, they have made important product innovations within the bicycle industry. Advancements include the 4-line computer which is now a standard in the industry and the world's first self-contained HID light. Not bad for a company that ten years ago started as a one man operation. Today, while still a small company, Planet Bike continues to evolve and improve their product line with the goal of always striving to build accessories that make it easier for people to ride their bikes. Since 1996, Planet Bike's financial support of the grassroots bicycle movement has totaled $500,000. By 2010, they have made a goal to donate $1 million to organizations that are dedicated to making America a friendlier place for cyclists.

Ever go to re-tape a handlebar and you just totally mess it up? I have. I admit it. Then you need to buy more handlebar tape - and do it right the second time. This stuff is VERY FORGIVING. You can bend it - stretch it - pull on it...if you goof up, simply unwind a little & start again. Just remember to wrap the left side bar clockwise starting at the bottom & working up. The right side bar - just the opposite. Start at the bottom & wrap counter-clockwise.

Very comfy also. Good stuff!

Update 6/27/12 - Still using the same set I installed 3 years ago!
----------------------
I'm a road biker of 25 years, this is the best tape I have ever used, far better than the Bontrager tape that came with my bike. Looks good, great cushion, goes on well with plenty of length. I have only had it on a couple of months but it feels like it will last a long time.

It's not very remarkable, but it does what is supposed to. I used it to replace some "tape" on my dad's 1760's Shwinn Varsity, and am very pleased.
On the quality: It seems great. I don't have a whole lot of experience on the stuff, but it was very easy to put on for a couple of reasons. First off, it is stretchy, and won't tear if you pull it tight. It's actually quite difficult to stretch it to breaking point (of course you can, though). It is backed with a substance that is tacky, but not like glue. It might be the same type of stuff they stick on the bottom of cycling shorts to keep them from riding up. Anyway, it's very forgiving if you mess up.
The one thing that I have noticed is that it is starting to unwind on one side. However, this is due to the way I wrapped that side. IT IS NECESSARY TO WRAP THIS STUFF WITH THE RIGHT METHOD. Google it or something. Also, the tape they gave me was not good or long enough. Have some electrical tape ready.

About the color. I bought the yellow, which was SOLID yellow and not flaked like the red-black deal in the picture. It's nice.

Wrapped my tour bike handle with this (charcoal) after my previous handle tape disintegrated after many years. Looks good, feels tough. Would like it a bit more cushy though.

So this stuff.... man this stuff. I ordered this for my Felt thinking, 'Ok, people like the feel of the material and it is comfortable... I'll get it just because it is cheap and looks good, shop charges too much. Here's hoping for the best.' BOOM. I get it. First thing i notice, it is about 99.5% black (ordered the black one), the other 0.5% is raw brown speckles of cork. I like it because it is unique and is noticeable like... freckles. It appears all solid color till you get close, gives it some hidden character. So i feel it from inside the box, felt thin and spongy. Ok. So i wrap it following the instructions on the back just to be sure I'm doing it right. Keep in mind, there isn't sticky adhesive on the back. All up and down the strip though there is a grippy rubber substance (not liquid, being super clear here). It has just enough length to reach, wish there was at least 3 more inches but I'm not complaining. So then i test it. I BARELY feel the cables! So comfortable! This is some weird kind of squishy goodness! I'm so blown away! Previously i had bar gel inserts on what i think was cheaper quality wrap because it was thinner and not as spongy. Believe me, not gel is needed unless you have the hands of a newborn infant. I want to buy this in large quantities and line my bed with it it is that good!!!

This tape is quite comfortable (for day-to-day use on drop bars). I've purchased three sets for three different bikes over the last few years.

It's easy to install with one caveat: the actual adhesive tape provided to secure the ends of the bar tape to the bars is too short to wrap around a few times and properly secure it. My solution was to use
Electrical Tape for this, but that is an inconvenience if you don't already have the stuff lying around.

The tape is very durable and stands up well to being left outside daily in rain and snow. It hasn't deteriorated or even faded noticeably after suffering from this kind of abuse for more than a year, including through an entire (Northeast US) winter.

Overall, this stuff is a great value, and an easy way to improve your casual riding experience, especially if you're currently rocking an old ten speed with those petrified foam grips still clinging to the bars.

I just used this tape for the fourth time, and I will happily continue to use it in the future. I ride in all sorts of conditions, and lately a lot on rough gravel roads in the rain: My bar tape never enters my mind, which is how it should be when something so basic is functioning correctly. It's easy to apply, very forgiving if you need to un-wrap, re-wrap a few times before you get it right. I really appreciate the variety of colors. I haven't ever had hand or wrist pain issues, so I can't really judge how this might help/hurt if you are someone who does. Highly recommended.

I usually buy white cork Michelin tape for my road bikes, but since I'm repainting one of mine light blue I wanted to wrap it in tan tape to complement the color scheme. These are a little pricier; almost twice as much as what I usually buy, but the super saver shipping offset some of the cost and it's identical to the price you'll find in any retail bike store.

Nevertheless I was pretty happy with it. This was the only offering I could find on Amazon for tan-brown tape, and it goes fairly well with gum-colored brake hoods (be careful which ones you buy, I don't recommend the Cane Creek ones mislabeled as "Dia-Compe" for sale here on Amazon). This tape feels and looks almost the same as regular cork tape, except it's much stretchier and lets you get a nice tight wrap. It's worth noting that there's no adhesive on the underside of the tape, only a sort of "rubbery tack" that grips the tape when you wrap it. Curiously though, the finishing strips do have adhesive. I wouldn't call this a drawback, but you have to be careful to wrap the tape in a clean place or keep it rolled up as much as possible or else the tack on the underside has a tendency to pick up dust and dirt. I imagine getting it dirty might mess with its grip.

So it's good tape. It's less cushiony than some, like other cork tapes, mostly because its stretchiness allowed me to wrap it tighter and thinner, but I don't mind because it lets me get a good grip. Highly recommended.
