Five stars for quality, but the product information provided by Amazon was lacking an essential detail,

I bought these for my brother in Hawaii, who provided details of his bike and wheel and tire size. In a nutshell, his tires are 40cm wide, so I figured 45cm wide fenders should be fine and the descripton notes they're made to fit hybrid bikes--which is what my brother has. When he looked at the description, he was thrilled thinking I had gotten exactly the right ones and in the right size--but I hadn't.
Turns out they're compatible with up to 35cm wide tires, so the tires would actually rub the fenders if my brother installed them. On the upside though, these are gorgeous fenders. I'm an avid cyclist and saw these on a bike locked up on a New York City street, and was very impressed by the look, materials, and quality construction. My brother said that, had they fit, they would be easy to install. Especially if you live in an area where they use road salt and sand in the wintertime, you want fenders like these which will not only hold up to punishment and look good doing it, but not rust, warp, or dent. These really fit the bill--if only they actually fit the hybrid size bike tires as described. Oh well, now for the exchange.

Planet Bike Full Hybrid/Road Front and Rear Bicycle Fender Set (45mm Wide)
I was able to install 2 sets of these that I purchased through Amazon.com but not without serious consternation. I put them on my Giant Cypress and my wife's Globe 700c comfort bike. There are 2 design details that presented most of my problems. First there is the stays design. The adjustment slides on the dropout end run afoul of a bunch of stuff where they attach. The screw clamps have to be rotated so they can only be adjusted operating the screwdriver through the wheel spokes to allow for the rear racks in all situations. The slide adjusters tend not to "slide" very well and can be very hard to adjust with any accuracy. I replaced the hardware for dropout attachment with hex socket head 5mm screws of more appropriate length for clearing the freewheel / freehub cogs. The "clip" on the chain-stay end of the rear fender is a problem for those of us with comfort bikes as there is no bridge "Tube" but rather a bridge plate designed with bends for kickstand positioning and with a threaded hole for the fender mounting screw. I had difficulty removing enough of that bridge tube clip to enable both kickstand attachment and screw-mounting the fender. Having dealt with the design "flaws" in these, I would easily decide to spend the extra $10-20 for the Hardcore or Cascadia fenders by Planet Bike as they have stays designed to adjust at the fender end, away from all the other stuff attached at the dropout. I was checking my spelling with product ads while writing this and discovered Amazon now carries Pyramid fenders with the better stay design at a lower price than the ones I bought. Go figure. With all the work invested in installation it's moot for me now but as for others, I'd recommend they buy Pyramid. http://www.amazon.com/Pyramid-Road-Hybrid-Full-Fenders/dp/B000AO9Z66/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1252007287&sr=8-2

As a bicycle commuter with a Trek FX7.2 fitness-hybrid bike and 700 x 35 tires, the fenders fit perfectly. Attaching the rear fender near the front chain ring was the only relative difficult attachment as I had to remove my kickstand and use a cable tie (which was included with the fenders) to secure it. The rest of it was not a problem. This is not a set of fenders that is a quick-remove type but since I don't plan on removing them, it's not an issue to me. It looks great as well.
I've now had these for about 6 weeks. Unfortunately, I hit a squirrel which caused damage to my front fender, but was able to bend the front fender rods back into shape (fenders probably actually saved my spokes from damage). Other than that incident, which is obviously not the fault of the manufacturer, I've been very happy with them. 2115|R3BKSB44QA9214;2115|R2D2D4JRYEUB2I;2115|R7J4L8N81IMMV;
