It's a shame they weren't the ones the show was about.

If you want to see what the cosplay community is really like instead of watching a hypocritical collection of non-heroic people, save your money and head to youtube.

I know that it's a show, but I don't feel that the truth was completely showed in the manner of the conventions.

The costumes themselves are interesting enough to make this show worth watching. However, the interactions between the cosplayers feel forced, boring, and WAY too long. The producers and editors are trying to make it seem like the cast are fighting. It would be much cooler to focus on the process of making the costumes and the competitions.

It might be nice to have different costumers each time. I'd also be interested to see some cosplayers who do great work on a lower budget.

Please take this entire show with a grain of salt, each of these cosplayers are all wonderful individuals who are shot in a reality show light. Sound effects are added, hours of shots condensed into an hour, the focus is less on the costumes (except for Holly and Jessica), and more on the drama.

I cosplay myself so was really excited when I heard about this show. The premiere was good though not great. I think given a chance this show could really take off. What I personally would like to see are some cosplayers who aren't at the level of skill that the people shown here are. It's kinda daunting to watch this if you aren't already into the hobby. It doesn't really encourage you to want to try because you think things like this are way out of your league - which is why it would be great to watch someone start off as a beginner(ish) and grow. These reality TV shows are half character driven anyways. I think what this one lacks over other reality TV shows like Face Off and Project Runway is that the competitors aren't actually around each other during their creation process - so a certain competitiveness and camaraderie, and dare I say drama is missing.

I've seen a lot of people pan and dismiss this show. I'm not sure what they were really expecting, but I find it enjoyable. The show follows several cosplayers as the plan, build, and show off their costumes at various cons around the country.

If you want to see cosplay/competitions, watch this show. If you want to see hair-pulling or drunken hook-ups, watch basically any other reality show.

I know someone on the show, and she confirms that there's almost never any weird editing or directing/scripting. Basically what you see is what you get, which is rare for a "reality" show.

If you want to see a lot of cosplay, you'll need to be ready with the pause button. This show focuses almost exclusively on the contestants, and only shows the best of the competitions they go to. I.e., you won't see all 80 contestants at a show, you'll see glimpses of maybe 5-10 entries, plus the show's protagonists. Obviously you will see all the winners, so you are seeing the best of the best. (See also: the Internet)

five stars because i thoroughly enjoyed watching the process of some if the props, and more detailed cosplays and skits . etc. also it focused equally on competitive side of cosplay as it did on the fun /hobby aspect.
