I own bloodhounds which are aggressive chewers. We have NO toys other than these Planet Dog balls. My most aggressive chewer can pick off some of the outer "earth" desing but cannot destroy the ball. It's GREAT for the aggressive chewer.

My two labs *love* these balls. I've owned two in a two-year period. Each lasted approximately a year before they started to really wear out.

A great value for a toy that lasts so long and is so well loved.

My 14# puppy had the ball all of 3 minutes when some of the outside peeled off. I managed to grab a piece of rubber the size of a quarter just before Nick swallowed it. He either would've crapped a UFO or I'd have been spending the night in the delightfully expensive and chaotic animal hospital. I looked at the outside of the ball and grabbed the side of the green plastic-- it peeled off easy. I know I'm a wrong girl, but if this is "Tuff" enough for powerful chewers, then i should probably be trying out for MMA.

I'll be adding a few pics of what peeled off.

I have been searching for a ball our beagle-dachshund mix would be able to play with safely. This seemed like the product. The orbee looks as if it is molded out of a single piece of material. BUT, the raised areas are actually glued on. After about 20 minutes, our little "beenie" chewed off and swallowed a big chunk of the raised spot (green area on the blue ball). What followed her joyful 20 minutes was a night filled with her vomiting up the pieces. Luckily, she did not end up with an obstruction. I would think that a product made to be "tuff" for dogs who chew wouldn't use glued on materials.

I hate this ball... I've thrown it so many times my arm has just about fallen off! We have a loving and energetic lab that simply loves this ball and pesters us constantly to throw it for her. We've had tennis balls and other rubber compound balls that she would play with for a few minutes before wandering away but the Planet Dog balls keep her going until she drops. With other rubber compound balls, we often had to put treats into the treat hole to hold her attention, but that isn't needed with the Planet Dog balls. If we tire before she does, our dog will roll on her back to hold the ball between her paws and chew on it until we can't take it any longer and return to throwing the darned thing across the yard. Oh, my aching arm!

The Planet Dog balls are very durable. We have had the glow-in-the-dark planet ball for more than two years. After about four months, the orange, outer continent shapes began to loosen and all eventually fell (or were chewed) off but the ball works just fine. The ball has been backed over by our mini-van, skipped across the driveway many, many times and chewed on for hours and hours with no significant wear or damage.

The glow feature is really nice for evening play time - I hold it under the light for a minute or so and we get about 10 minutes of play. The glow is bright enough to track for more than 50 yards or to find the ball if it flies into the tall grass or woods.

We have the glowing ball, the green FETCH, and the pink WOOF balls. When we say go get your ball, the glowing ball is the one she looks for. If the dog can't find it, she always returns with one of the other Planet Dog balls even though we have several tennis balls and a Kong ball in her kennel area.

if you have a really tough chewer. I have a pit bull and he was first introduced to this ball at his aunt's house who has a cattle dog. He loved the ball so much and took it home with him and continued to love it for a couple of months, until one day he decided to rip it apart. I thought any ball that could survive that long was worth a purchase, so I bought a bunch of them using the 4 for 3 promotion. The first one I gave to him he ripped apart in about 10 minutes (while running back and forth with a look of absolute glee through the house). Little pieces of the world everywhere. He came running back to me with that cute look that I couldn't resist, so I gave him another one. That one has lasted for a while. Indestructable? No, not for a real chewer. Worth it? Absolutely. I keep several of them on hand and my boy has about five throughout the house and seems to tear up one out of every three or four (yes, I bought that many). His eyes light up when I pick up one for a game of fetch, and he's been known to go through phases just carrying it around with him from room to room. Overall, a great toy.

As an aside, I have found that he enjoys ripping apart the blue one more than the orange one, for what that's worth. He also loves the green and pink "woof" and "fetch" balls and has the same experience with them - plays with them when he wants and can rip them up without problem if he should so decide (but loves them up until that time).

I got this because it was a friday sale item. This is the item that put "Planet Dog" on the map? Numerous awards? Best product of the year? I checked out their site and could find no awards. It appears this product works well for many people. Not for me and Daisy, a 3-year old yellow lab. The only reason I paid the ten bucks is that I was hoping for a very durable toy. My dog is intelligent, and is highly educated in the arts of chewing and toy dismantling.
It took her 12 minutes before destoying half of Europe. South America was next to be peeled off. If your dogs loves to chew and is good at it, stick with the dollar store items, let your dog go wild and throw it away.
As I go to throw this away, I feel a chill in my spine. Let me tell you it is much easier to toss a dollar away than it is a ten spot. Planet Dog needs to spend less time "protecting the enviroment" and more time creating better dog toys. The description says recyclable, but my trash company doesn't recycle rubber yet, does yours? So thank you Planet Earth for one more dog toy piling up the local dump.
As for everyone this works for, that's super! I have yet to find a better toy than a durable tennis ball (by the balls made for practice, they last much longer than competition tennis balls)
