5.0 out of 5 stars Labs love 'em
My two labs *love* these balls. I've owned two in a two-year period. Each lasted approximately a year before they started to really wear out.

A great value for a toy that lasts so long and is so well loved.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not as tough as you think
I got this because it was a friday sale item. This is the item that put "Planet Dog" on the map? Numerous awards? Best product of the year? I checked out their site and could find no awards. It appears this product works well for many people. Not for me and Daisy, a 3-year old yellow lab. The only reason I paid the ten bucks is that I was hoping for a very durable...

5.0 out of 5 stars Planet Dog Orbee ball, July 19, 2006
I own bloodhounds which are aggressive chewers. We have NO toys other than these Planet Dog balls. My most aggressive chewer can pick off some of the outer "earth" desing but cannot destroy the ball. It's GREAT for the aggressive chewer.

5.0 out of 5 stars My dog loves Orbee!, June 9, 2007
By
This review is from: Planet Dog Orbee-Tuff Orbee Ball, Large, Blue/Green (Misc.)
My dog, Woden, a seven-year-old Picardy Shepherd male, loves his Orbee and knows it by name. He's now on his second Orbee. The first (a style that is no longer made) was made of softer "stuff" and he chewed on it so much that it split (not quite in two). He still has that one and still loves chewing on it. He loves his newer one, too, but I must say that he still prefers chewing on the softer one. He now has two favorite toys: a stuffed platypus (restuffed and resewn numerous times) that he's had since he was 8 weeks old and his Orbees. I highly recommend them!

It appears this product works well for many people. Not for me and Daisy, a 3-year old yellow lab. The only reason I paid the ten bucks is that I was hoping for a very durable toy. My dog is intelligent, and is highly educated in the arts of chewing and toy dismantling.
It took her 12 minutes before destoying half of Europe. South America was next to be peeled off. If your dogs loves to chew and is good at it, stick with the dollar store items, let your dog go wild and throw it away.
As I go to throw this away, I feel a chill in my spine. Let me tell you it is much easier to toss a dollar away than it is a ten spot. Planet Dog needs to spend less time "protecting the enviroment" and more time creating better dog toys. The description says recyclable, but my trash company doesn't recycle rubber yet, does yours? So thank you Planet Earth for one more dog toy piling up the local dump.
As for everyone this works for, that's super! I have yet to find a better toy than a durable tennis ball (by the balls made for practice, they last much longer than competition tennis balls)

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing and dangerous, December 2, 2009
By
Flyingdoxie (Lombard, IL USA) - See all my reviews
I have been searching for a ball our beagle-dachshund mix would be able to play with safely. This seemed like the product. The orbee looks as if it is molded out of a single piece of material. BUT, the raised areas are actually glued on. After about 20 minutes, our little "beenie" chewed off and swallowed a big chunk of the raised spot (green area on the blue ball). What followed her joyful 20 minutes was a night filled with her vomiting up the pieces. Luckily, she did not end up with an obstruction. I would think that a product made to be "tuff" for dogs who chew wouldn't use glued on materials.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great ball, but have a back up on hand..., May 2, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
if you have a really tough chewer. I have a pit bull and he was first introduced to this ball at his aunt's house who has a cattle dog. He loved the ball so much and took it home with him and continued to love it for a couple of months, until one day he decided to rip it apart. I thought any ball that could survive that long was worth a purchase, so I bought a bunch of them using the 4 for 3 promotion. The first one I gave to him he ripped apart in about 10 minutes (while running back and forth with a look of absolute glee through the house). Little pieces of the world everywhere. He came running back to me with that cute look that I couldn't resist, so I gave him another one. That one has lasted for a while. Indestructable? No, not for a real chewer. Worth it? Absolutely. I keep several of them on hand and my boy has about five throughout the house and seems to tear up one out of every three or four (yes, I bought that many). His eyes light up when I pick up one for a game of fetch, and he's been known to go through phases just carrying it around with him from room to room. Overall, a great toy.

As an aside, I have found that he enjoys ripping apart the blue one more than the orange one, for what that's worth. He also loves the green and pink "woof" and "fetch" balls and has the same experience with them - plays with them when he wants and can rip them up without problem if he should so decide (but loves them up until that time).

3.0 out of 5 stars not for terriers, September 21, 2007
I was thrilled when my dogs really liked playing with the balls, though I had my doubts about how rugged they were. A few hours passed and they were still engaged, though intent on removing the continents from the surface. By day 3 they claimed victory and I had to take them away, before they ate any more pieces. However the core of the ball was intact. I think these are great balls for less focused chewers.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money, July 8, 2009
I spent $14.50 for this "tuff" toy. My 50lb 9month old Australian Shepherd destroyed it in less than 1 hour. She peeled all the white parts of the ball off. If your dog is a chewer, don't buy this!

1.0 out of 5 stars Tuffy toy not so tuff..., May 27, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I purchased the planet dog orbee-Tuff toy (green/blue).
"This ball is the tuffest of the Orbee-Tuff toys! For extreme chewers." FALSE!!! 5 out of 5 on the chew rating. FALSE!!!
My dog (puppy lab)6 months old chewed the green off right away.
I would not recommend this toy to any big chew dog.

5.0 out of 5 stars The most durable ball on the market!, June 11, 2007
This review is from: Planet Dog Orbee-Tuff Orbee Ball, Large, Blue/Green (Misc.)
I bought this ball last week, and wasn't too sure if she (Indy) would take to it...she's a ball snob. Also all the toys I buy her last maybe a day or two...she's a pit bull and loves chewing up every toy she gets! I couldn't believe how durable, yes bouncy and fun this toy is...she loves it! And I love the fact I don't have pieces of rubber to pick up all over the house!
