A classic example of the sci-fi genre.,

This review is from: Planet of the Gawfs (Inflation Fighter Series) (Paperback)
All in all, a fast paced, exciting, quick read. While itself rather short, the storyline covers a lot of ground, includes a lot of memorable characters, and has a good premise. The Earth has been beset by a strange plague, the survivors bear mutated children, often obvious at birth, but many whose 'defects' are hidden. The powers that be on Earth choose to deport these 'GAWFS' (God Awful Freaks) to an Earth-like planet where they could live peaceful lives and where their mutations could not harm the Earth (or be passed on to future generations). But the Eden for the mutants is a sham, and instead they are dropped off in the wilderness of the planet to die and fight amongst themselves to live. A small group battle their way back to Earth, to reveal the lie, and there they find the most shocking secret of them all...My one complaint...no sequel. There could have been a ton of followup on this novel, that path was left purposefully open by Mr.Vance. The gauntlet was never picked up.

If you enjoy comics, you'll enjoy this great little sci-fi gem. The plot is very similar in some ways to the X-Men. It's a fun read with great action and memorable characters. Definitely worth the read for any sci-fi fan!
