5.0 out of 5 stars Excellence on two fronts November 2, 2007
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book has not only some of the most inviting golf course photography ever - by world-class Australian Photographer David Scaletti, but a collection of very well-researched, concise and precise reviews by Darius Oliver, one of Australia and the world's most able golf architecture writers. A must have book for all golfers that will even start the architectural education of the uninformed. This book is not only incomparable but affordable.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a fabulous book. June 2, 2008
Format:Hardcover
David Scaletti's photography is superb, as is the book's production quality.

The narrative by Darius Oliver is wonderfully frank, well-argued and original. I also enjoyed his clear and joyous descriptions of each of his favorite courses throughout the world.

The focus of the book is on the courses outside America, because so much excellent material already exists on the Top U.S. Courses.

The book covers the Best Courses in the UK and Ireland, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, Canada, Mexico and Central America, Asia and Africa.

It may not be possible to visit all these Masterpieces of World Golf but this book is the next best thing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great gift/coffee table book. March 1, 2013
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
Purchased this for my boss's retirement as president of the board, instead of the ho/hum award plaque given for this type of occasion. Had all of the board of directors sign the inside title page.
He is an avid golfer, and has played many courses throughout the US & outside of the US. He was so thrilled with the gift that he carried it around, clutched to his chest, after it was given to him. That it was signed by the BOD made it even more special.
Now, about the book. It is large, heavy, thick, and the photographs are wonderful. Lots of info about each course. He had played some of them.
You can't go wrong with this book, especially as a gift.
