My son loves this toy! He has taken it to the park, searched our yard, and scanned the couch cushions! He has found some very neat things...including cash! If you love exploring, this is the perfect toy!

I bought this for my then soon-to-be six year old in June for our family vacation to the beach. I had a hard time keeping it secret until then because I was so excited about it! When he finally got to open it, he was so surprised. He didn't think they made one for kids. He used it every day at the beach and more since then. This toy keeps his imagination flowing with thoughts of finding that big treasure, while (here's the kicker) keeping him outside instead of in front of the television. My favorite feature is that it really works! Just don't forget the battery... it takes a 9-volt!

I bought two detectors for my boys. We are going on a family vacation to the beach. They have enjoyed them tremendoulsy and we haven't even made it to the beach yet! What a fun toy!

I think this is so cool and fun! I got one for Christmas one year and I enjoy it a lot! I have used it to finding metal things I lose in the carpet or grass. I rate it five stars for durability because I have had it for about 2 years and it has gone though a lot of beating(My little brother having friend over who play around with it), yet it still works fine. In short, I think this is a great toy. THANKS WILD PLANET!

We tried using it to find a quarter underneath a piece of paper and it had trouble detecting it unless it was positioned directly over and very close to the paper. We then took it to the beach and it was a total bust. Save your money.

My 7 year old son requested a metal detector so he could find money. This one was an instant hit. He and his 3 year old brother actually have used it indoors more than outdoors. They have tested everything inside in the house and both are amazed how many things are made of metal. With the handle attached items on the walls and ceiling have been tested. They were surprised to learn that there is metal under the carpet (nails). So far this metal detector has remained intact, so it is somewhat durable.

I am so dissapointed with Wild Planet. This is quite possibly the worst item I ever received for Christmas. I did not find anything that wasn't put directly the sensor. After 2 days, I picked it up, and the handle fell off. If you were to ask me, I'd suggest that you never buy this for anyone. Anyone who claims to have found diamonds or rings with this product has to be lying.

We purchased this metal detector for my 7 year old son to take on vacation. He took it to the beach twice, but never used it. I feel that it may be better suited for children who are ages 6 and younger.

This metal detector was a big disappointment. It didn't find anything for us except a penny that we placed directly under it.

It works great!I love it!I found my lucky coin,money,studs and nails in the floor.(just don't get it wet,or else you'll have to let it dry over night)
