German Insanity,
By Bill Braskey (MO) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Planet Punk (Audio CD)
I bought this cd a few weeks ago when I was an exchange student in Hamburg. I loved it right away because of its really, really unique and crazy songs. I brought it back to America and played it at my friends house and everybody loved it. Since then, all my friends have been burning or ripping copies and making me bring it along when we go somewhere or do something.So.. yeah... buy it.

Cool but no punk,
By Chris Ragner (Munich, Germany) - See all my reviews

The album is quite cool but why the hell "Planet Punk"? It is the only Aerzte-cd on which there are really NO punk-songs. I suggest buying "Die Bestie in Menschengestalt" and "Das Beste von kurz anch frueher bis Jetzte".

Berliner Knabe tut Meinung kund.

This is Comedy Rock,
By Barbanegra "Prof.Dr. hc quadro declaratio" (Essen, Germany) - See all my reviews

Ok, you also might like it, when you don't understand the lyrics, because it's a nice'n'catchy mix between Fun Punk, Pop, Hard Rock and Metal. But if you want to understand, why "Die Ärzte" are really huge in germany, then you got to know that it's because of their lyrics. Songs like "Die Banane", "Meine Ex(plodierte Freundin)", "Mein Freund Michael", "Trick 17", "Rod Loves You" are pure, world class comedy. You just have to laugh about those songs - if you understand them. Of course, they wouldn't be that successfull, if the music wouldn't be good. You might compare them to the likes of Blink 182. But that's normally not my type of music. I absolutely love this band simply because of the lyrics, and their way to use the german language and match their comedy with their music. It's mainly fun punk stuff, but they like to switch between all kinds of musical styles. They even have a grindcore-song on the album "Le Frisur" ("Dauerwelle vs Minipli"). This album is 70 minutes of pure fun.

I was first introduced to this band when I was working in Munich, over four years ago. A friend of mine from there sent me this CD about a year after I returned to the U.S. I've listened to it ever since. It's great and I highly recommend it.

One of Die Aerzte's best, given the highest ratings by many top rock magazines. Red mit mir; Super drei; Hurra; Vermissen, baby are some of Aerzte's best. This is probably the ultimate homework music, as well -- if you don't speak German, it's great music without having to get distracted by English lyrics.

I went over to Germany and found this to be the very favorite thing I brought back, if you at all like any modern music, this CD is a must. I have never had a CD before where I like every song. If you have the chance, I would recomend this CD as a buy to everyone.

Being a German major, I was delighted to pick up a copy of this CD during a semester abroad. The lyrics are absolutely brilliant - satirical, sarcastic, funny, and intelligent. From a song dealing with an Ex(ploded) Girlfriend to a rather *ahem* erotic song about a banana, the music is very catchy. These songs are great for driving music - I sing along and have improved my German grammar and pronounciation dramatically.

I have followed the german group since 1984 (Debil), and I must say that there music is a hanger. I have all the albums with the group, and there got all 5 stars individually. Keep it coming, Bela & Farin. Rod's not forgotten. Remember, Hejselbæk loves you!

Geil!,

This is a great album by a punk group from Berlin. Although I'm not a big punk fan, I like Die Arzte (The Doctors) because they have fun and don't take themselves too seriously. If you understand German and like rock or punk, the album is a must, because it is hilarious! But, even though 95% of the album is in German, it is still great to listen to because it is fast, fun, guitar oriented rock! Some of the best songs are "Schunder-Song" (Which also is a neat video), "Hurra", "Langweilig", "Rod Loves You", "Meine Ex(plodierte Freundin)", and "Die Traurige Ballade von Susi Spakowksi". Also, the cover artwork is pretty cool - a sort of satirical look at the punk scene in Germany! |
