I've been looking all over for anything Jazz Butcher. The lyrics are brilliant,the band truly needs more recognition.

The Jazz Butcher, long overlooked in the States, has created yet another smashing album full of lyrical wit, synicism and cleverness that is punctuated by endless musical hooks. This is highlighted on cuts like "Bicycle Kid," "Nightmare Being" and Bad Dream Lover." Pound for pound one of the strongest albums created in the 80's, second only to earlier releases by the Jazz Butcher. This album is well worth a listen, you won't regret it. If you're not already a fan, you will be after listening to Big Planet, Scary Planet.

Along with Waiting for the Love Bus this album is an absolute masterpiece that I continue to listen to over and over. JBC is a musical genius, creating incredibly catchy tunes. That they never made it to the bigtime shows the dysfunctional state of the music industry.

The Jazz Butcher is the perfect example of how brilliant songwriting and the ability to release CD after CD of incredible music is ignored time and time again in our corporate landscape. Big Planet Scary Planet should be a crowning jewel in anyone's music collection. Big Planet Scary Planet is a highlight in The Jazz Butcher catalog. That is saying something. The lyrics don't have the behavioral understanding of Condition Blue and at times reinforce petty judgement, but many times still have the witticisms and insights that epitomize the songs by the Jazz Butcher. The music is awesome. From the adrenalin rush of "New Invention" to the compelling melancholy of "The Good Ones" The Jazz Butcher doesn't miss a step. As a sidenote the only really weak song in my opinion is "Bad Dream Lover". Hey we all have different tastes, but Big Planet Scary Planet should make everyone smile. Another brilliant addition to the Butcher canon.
