5.0 out of 5 stars An Accordian Lover's Dream Come True, December 6, 1999

This review is from: Planet Squeezebox (Audio CD)
This CD compilation is a must for any music lover. It is a collection of 52 songs, ranging from Polka to Classical. Each song has something written about them-- about the musicians, where they come from, and a brief background description.

Planet Squeezebox is entertaining and well worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoy a musical trip around the world, September 28, 2002

I bought this cd-box (the item I own contains 3 CDs) by coincidence. I went to a record shop to buy a present for a friend and as soon as I saw the box I felt attracted to it. Is all about fussion & world music.
I don't mean that it contains many songs of different styles, I mean that every song mixes different styles. I've never thought that flamenco could fit with african rythms, or that a british neo punk band could play mediterranean music, or that a blues could sound so deep with german lyrics. And that's only to mention a few examples. Of course not always the fussion works excellent, but when it does (and it does more often that doesn't), knocks me out. So, if you are into world music, I would highly recommend this box, which by the way is incredibly cheep.

4.0 out of 5 stars Intriguing music!, March 29, 2006

(REAL NAME)
I love musical fusion, blending one style with another, using different instruments in different genres, etc. This is a truly interesting mix of cultures.

Not every number is a winner for me, but everyone is a great example of musical experimentation. I definitely value the attempt on every number, and I absolutely immediately loved many of the tracks! Akete Oba Oba is wonderful. I adore Tail Wag Jig and Reel 'En Su Salsa'. Others have taken longer for me to appreciate, but more than one listen can make the ears yearn for more.

The average 'guy-on-the-street' might not find this CD to their liking. I highly recommend it to the musically adventurous. I think it would be great to play this kind of music in schools to expose high school students to more varieties of sound.

Why limit ourselves to the same old stuff when we can enjoy the world of music in Planet Soup?
