4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for sensitive skin, environmentally friendly, and not tested on animals
This is the only dishwashing liquid I've found that doesn't irritate my skin at all. It doesn't smell like chemicals or cheap fragrance; in fact, it has very little scent. 3.0 out of 5 stars open bottle mess but good product.
Received a case. One bottle leaked on the rest. Took some time to clean up. Price was a little higher than I could of paid at a local store. Product works well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for sensitive skin, environmentally friendly, and not tested on animals, May 28, 2006
This review is from: Planet Ultra Dishwashing Liquid, 25 Fluid Ounce Bottles ((Pack of 12)) (Health and Beauty)
This is the only dishwashing liquid I've found that doesn't irritate my skin at all. It doesn't smell like chemicals or cheap fragrance; in fact, it has very little scent. It's certified biodegradable and environmentally friendly, since its basic ingredients are coconut oil and salt. (It breaks down into carbon dioxide, basic minerals, and water.) Even the bottle is environmentally friendly, made from 50% recycled resin. The product is not tested on animals, either.

So why do I give it only 4 stars? Well, it's not very powerful. You have to use maybe two or three times more of it to clean the same amount of dishes.

Nevertheless, I was thrilled to find this product, because I had tried literally every other brand and was desperate to find a way to wash dishes without breaking out in a rash up to my elbows. I've been using this brand for quite a few years and have never had any reaction to it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good for Sensitive Skin, Cruelty Free, Eco Friendly and Strong Enough to Clean A Boat!, January 9, 2007
This review is from: Planet Ultra Dishwashing Liquid, 25 Fluid Ounce Bottles ((Pack of 12)) (Health and Beauty)
I agree with almost everything other reviewers have said: good for the enviroment, uses recycled packaging, all naturall, cruelty free and great for sensitive skin. The only point I have to differ on is that it is the strength, I have never had that problem with this product being too weak. In fact my stepfather loves to uses it to clean his boat after scuba diving off the coast of California. He has even used to wash his (and other boats) after weeklong or more trips to Baja or Lake Powell, trust me the boat gets really dirty and the planet has always worked great. They've even been know to use it for thier showers on those long dive and boat trips. It also works greats on the dishes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super product, November 15, 2007

I bought this after I noticed that my baby's bottles smelled like dishwashing liquid after washing with other products. I want my baby's milk to taste & smell like milk, and not have harsh detergents lingering in it. Super product. Have to buy online since my local grocery store stopped selling it. Thank you Amazon!

This is excellent dish soap, as far as dish soap goes. It makes more suds than Seventh Generation, which I tried before it, and it manages to smell good while not smelling like anything. It's safe and gentle, and most importantly, biodegradable. It makes my dishes as clean, if not cleaner, than store brands. I will never use anything else. I just wish it was easier to find, since none of the stores near my home sell it and Amazon doesn't have it in stock consistently. I'm happy to see they've changed the caps which will help to ensure that none of them leak or break open during transport. Planet laundry detergent is wonderful as well. I wish I would have switched years ago.

I recently purchased a bottle of this dishwashing liquid after reading all the reviews I could find. I have to say I am thoroughly impressed with this product. Although I haven't tried it as shampoo yet, I have washed about everything else with it and it performs exceptionally well. I am an outdoor person in the warmer months and enjoy camping. I have used this on camp dishes with cold water and it works as well or better than others I have tried. I keep some at my summer sink for hand washing and it works great on those greasy lawnmower and auto repair hands.

5 stars!

5.0 out of 5 stars Does not take any more than usual, June 18, 2007
This review is from: Planet Ultra Dishwashing Liquid, 25 Fluid Ounce Bottles ((Pack of 12)) (Health and Beauty)
I totally disagree that you would need to use triple the amount to clean the same amount of dishes as a typical dishsoap. I think we have come to believe that we need things to be really sudsy and bubbly so that we can "see" how clean something is getting. Since I've started using Planet products, I actually think I have switched my thinking. I now use far LESS product than I used to use of traditional detergents, because I have come to realize that a thing doesn't have to be "bubbly and susdy" to be "clean". Nor do things have to be completely devoid of any residue whatsoever. I can use a scrubber to get off tough dirt, then wash with Planet or other alternative cleaner, rinse, and wipe anything else off with a drying towel to feel confident I've gotten something clean enough.

2/19/12 I've been tracking pricing on this for a few years, it's now up to $3.95/bottle on S&S. Still significantly cheaper in store, I don't know why you wouldn't receive any savings for buying a bulk case. Still love the product!

1/11/11 WOW! AMAZON JACKED UP THE PRICE ON THIS. IT WORKS OUT TO $3.49/BOTTLE ON SUBSCRIBE & SAVE. IT'S CHEAPER IN THE LOCAL GROCERY STORE. WHEN I ORGINALLY PURCHASED FROM AMAZON IT WAS $2.75/BOTTLE!

11/12/10
At first, I didn't believe Amazon's description of the ingredients in this so I went to the store and looked at a bottle and also went to the Planet website.

It only has three ingredients! I purchased this because I wanted something mild enough for washing baby bottles and with the residue left on the bottles normally - for it to be non toxic. This doesn't leave any residues and gets my bottles very clean. I was previously using Seventh Generation dish soap but after reading reviews that it contains SLS, and it does indeed, I wanted something non toxic. It's a shame that you can't trust a brand like Seventh Generation--it's supposedly "natural and eco".

Planet is also mild enough to bath your animals with and to wash your veggies according to the Planet website. This came in handy when I was making baby food and needed to scrub the outside of some pumpkins and squashes prior to cooking. This has to be the cheapest animal wash available--we washed both our dogs in it and neither has shown any adverse reactions. Our border collie has had some skin issues and didn't show any problems.

It is also biodegradble so I plan on using it when camping and in our trailer--what a diverse product!

I whole heartedly recommend this product to moms, animal lovers, and anyone who loves sparkly clean dishes!

I am glad I bought this Dishwashing Liquid on Amazon. I tried to find it at several health stores and couldn't, so I gave in based on the reviews. I was not disappointed. It just as powerful as any other dishwashing soap unless you are used to something super concentrated, then of course you might have to use a little more. I noticed my hands have not been that dry and that during winter time. My dishes get clean.

Based on previous reviews, I purchased a case pack because I am very sensitive to chemical smells and needed a dishwashing liquid that would not give me a headache. Mission accomplished - Planet Ultra has no odor I can detect. My wife also appreciates the fact it does not cause her skin to dry out. As far as cleaning power goes, it is on par with any other dishwashing liquid.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb product!!!, August 29, 2008

Lets face it, the people and the planet are exposed to way too much multiple chemical combination load. Most people think their body eliminates these when they pee and poo, UNTRUE. Planet dishwashing soap is the only product for asthmatics, chemically sensitive and children and the only dishwashing product I will use. It is the only product I can tolerate. If you think about how your skin and lungs absorb the standard over the counter brands, which are not regulated for safety, and multiply that by days and years of your life, that chemical burden to your body is extensive and cumulative. Triclosan, the touted miracle antibacterial, found in many of these, is found in breast milk. Not a gift to give to your baby's brain! You are NOT eliminating it, you are accumulating it in your tissues! And, it is NOT antibacterial, it mutates the bacteria and creates superbugs which are harder to eliminate from your environment. (PS to save on sponges, boil them and re-use them!

Decrease your chemical load and the planets chemcial load by using Planet.

It does not take more to clean my dishes with Planet. I even dilute it to save product and expense.

In addition, their laundry detergent removes environmental toxins including pesticides and toxic unregulated fragrances from all your clothing! (cotton is the most heavily pesticided crop in the world!)
