Pleasantly surprised with the quality and workmanship on a $5.00 guitar strap. I was expecting a lot worse. I have several very nice leather straps but they all have the strap-loc system. I needed a simple strap for three guitars that have strap buttons that cannot be removed or replaced. The Planet Waves simple woven nylon strap works perfectly. The portion that attaches to the strap button is leather and all the adjustment rings are made of smooth, rounded black nylon and quite sturdy, plus they won't scratch your guitar . I'm using this strap on a Turner Renaissance RS-6 and two Yamaha Silent guitars all of which are very light in weight. This strap is probably best suited for acoustic guitars. With solid body electrics, I would think the heavier weight guitars would cause the strap to dig into your shoulder since there is no padding. For my intended use, it's very comfortable, well made, and a real bargain for the price. Couldn't ask for more.

To start, I did not purchase the strap though Amazon, but it is the same strap. That being said, this is the best strap ever! I've messed with many types of strap locks from the strap lock pins to the DiMarzio clamping straps. This one is the easiest to use and it's the cleanest looking as well. I will say that it may not fit on some guitars if their strap pins are small since the ends on this strap are pretty fat. My advice is to get bigger pins. I have six electric guitars (Ibanez (3), Epiphone, Dean and Fender) and this strap fits all of them. My acoustics only have one pin and therefore this wouldn't work to well on them. One of the reviewers mentioned that it fits backwards on a guitar with the pin on the back instead of on a horn or the body edge. That is true. It still works though and it doesn't look or fit funny. As a matter of fact, my main guitar right now is the Dean which has the pin on the back and I use this strap primarily with it. To be fair, perhaps they should have implemented a way to flip the end around so that it wouldn't be backwards. But, that's nit-picking on an otherwise outstanding guitar strap. Now, if they'd just make one in leather...

I wasn't expecting much, but it seems reasonably well made for four bucks. Stitching could be better and there could be more of it. There's only one row at each location. Red is nice blood shade, not tacky orange-red. Good fit on strap buttons. Holes in leather are 1/4" diameter, slits are 1/2", and leather is a bit under 3/32" thick. Adjustment range goes from top of guitar on chest to bottom of guitar almost at knees. Leather is not sewn to strap but is connected with plastic loops at both ends.

Recently started learning to play the bass guitar. Picked up a Yamaha RBX170 and purchased this locking guitar strap. Even being a newbie, it was obvious that the locking mechanism was not going to work with the stock strap buttons on the guitar. So, I sent away for the "free" replacement buttons offered by D'Addario. In actuality, I had to pay $2.50 for shipping and handling. Didn't take long to receive the replacement buttons. I put up a picture to show you the difference between the stock RBX170 buttons and the replacement ones.

So, with the replacement buttons in place (using the original screws and not the fat ones that came with the new buttons), the strap performs well. I only use this guitar at home (for now), so it's not subject to any flinging about. What matters to me is that the strap works, it was relatively inexpensive, and the locking mechanism does its job.

We bought our daughter a tinkerbell plastic guitar to be a rockstar and this strap fits perfectly on her toy guitar as well as adjusts to the size of a smallish 5 year old no problem. It's a great economical solution for a toy, we're completely satisfied with the purchase.

I almost never write reviews on Amazon, but occasionally i come across such good design that i am inspired to congratulate a designer and their product. As hard as it is to get pumped up about a guitar strap, i am crazy about this thing. I bought it at Guitar Center because buying a guitar strap is a tactile and visual experience, but i hope i can save folks the time, gas and money and have them just buy on Amazon.

I play and perform acoustic guitar and recently bought a Gibson Hummingbird. Not wanting to drill into the beautiful neck to place a strap button, i wanted to pick up a tie-on strap. This one is perfect because of the ingenious idea of having a snap-on head for the tied end of the strap. So, tie it on and you can leave it there to either connect to when you want to play standing up or undo it and you can practice sitting down and let it hang. It fits fine in the pegboard end of your case so you just loop it and forget.

It is that simple -- totally awesome design. Like velcro or paper clips.

If you are looking for a tie-on strap and don't want to travel to a music store, just stop now and buy this strap.

Well done, Planet Waves! -g

I play bass guitar and love to jump around on stage. I had to me careful with my strap. More than once I would have to grab my guitar as it fell off the strap. I didn't really want to alter my basses (I have 2) with strap locks. I found this gem in a local music store. I've had it for about a year and never had a problem with it. It works great.
