It still sounds like your guitar, only better.

One day it just snapped when i tried to put in the guitar, i think it was just one time too many of putting it and out of the guitar.
AngieLovesee
It increased the bass tones a bit but the only real improvement was the harmonics.

It definitely changes the sound of my Classical Guitar for the better (Pavan TP-30). It allows the the bass notes to have distinct upper note harmonics/partials and it takes away the boominess of the fundamental. My initial thought was that it did away with the "blurriness" of the low bass to mid-range response and balanced the entire spectrum of the guitar's range. Amazing what a $20 piece plastic can do. Highly recommended.

Planet Waves O-Port comes in two sizes - Small and Large and in two colours Ivory (White) or Black. Amazon does not say that in the product description. I believe that the abbreviations "PW-OPBKL" means "Planet Waves - OPort Black Large". The "Large" size would fit the Acoustic guitars.

I tried the O Port on my Taylor 714CE Grand Auditorium Acoustic Guitar and and could not distinguish any difference. However, there is a clear positive difference when I use it in my Maton EBG-808 Acoustic Guitar especially in the bass strings. However, I could not differentiate the response in the trebles in the Maton Guitar.

I also bought the Small size O Port which fits the Classical Guitar. Again there was an distinct improvement in the bass strings.

Yeah, I know, we all read these reviews and take them with a grain of salt. But truly, I was blown away by the change the O-Port made to my Alvarez AD60Ck. The difference to the guitar's tone and presence characteristics truly is amazing. After installing the O-Port I was playing for some regular listeners, and they asked if this was a different guitar. Same guitar, but now with a much improved sound. We all know how hard it is with an acoustic instrument to get any real tonal presence outdoors. I took my Alvarez with it's O-Port out on a weekend sailing trip, and was amazed by the tone and ability to project sound in an open setting. I tried the O-Port on an expensive, show guitar, my Blueridge BR180CE. It really didn't make a noticeable change to the Blueridge's sound, so apparently the O-Port won't improve upon a guitar that already has perfect tone. But if you want the sound of a $2,000 guitar from a $400 instrument, the O-Port is just the ticket.

I typically don't leave reviews, but this is a great product. I have an Alvarez ad60sc. It's a dreadnought cutaway with electronics. I typically play acoustically with ej16's or Addario custom light strings. I had the action adjusted professionally (saddle filed down) and that's about it. Prior to installation, I thought the guitar had very good sound for its price-point.

I read a previous review of the ad60bk (similar to my guitar) and that reviewer had good results, so I figured why not.
Installation was pretty easy. I placed the capo on the second fret like videos on youtube recommend. You only have to loosen/remove 3 strings and the o-port just pops into the soundhole nicely. After quickly re-tuning the guitar I was ready to see if it had made a difference.

The result was definitely more projection from the soundhole. The guitar is louder and the bass response seems better/clear. I can't comment on the anti-feedback functionality, but I assume its works appropriately.

My assumption is that this device will work well for lower end models that have restricted projection, but may not be ideal for high end martins/taylors etc. Again, that's not based on evidence... It's just an assumption. My guitar body/sides is mahogany and the top is spruce, and overall the guitar seems heavily lacqurered which I believe keeps the sound diminished. While I liked the sound coming from the guitar prior to this small upgrade, I am very happy with this clear, loud, and more responsive sound.

Give it a try. I'd like to hear your opinion as well.

After reading about this type of product being built into hand made 10 string guitars I bought one for my Martin vintage classical guitar. The O-Port seems to have made the three bass strings noticeably louder and give an overall more mello tone to the guitar. The product is inexpensive enough to give it a try on speculation. I am happy enough with it to have purchased three more for my other Martin acoustics.

After living with this product for a while I decided to remove them from all of the Martins in my collection as the "Martin Sound" just was not there anymore.I did leave one in my Alverez Yari Baritone guitar as it improved the overall sound.

I've been playing for 35+ years, and I've never found something so inexpensive that improved the sound of my instrument so much.I tried it out at a local store before I bought this one and I noticed a difference immediately. More bass, harmonics, and focus to the over all tone with minimum feedback on stage with a microphone. I don't know how it does it, but this is the best money I've spent in a while. If you play accoustic guitar you gotta buy this!! You won't regret it.

I use to have a guitar that sounded horrible with this thing in there. It was a pain to take out, too. However, it got a new lease on life with my new guild guitar. It did stop feedback issues and sounded somewhat better overall. I had to cut part of it for the volume and tone control which is located in the sound hole. Something you might want to think about before getting one of these.
