Planet X kept me turning the pages; I finishd the book in one night. I enjoyed the relationship between Teague & Krisa. This review is from: Planet X (Paperback)
Sold by her parents to Briar Rose Finishing Academy when she was a young girl, Krisa Elyison has lived most of her life at the school, training to be a proper wife to the man who bought her contract from the school. Finally come of age to wed her fiancée, she finds herself drawn to the strange captive being held in the cargo hold.

They don't come much more dangerous than Teague. When the ship transporting Krisa and Teague crash lands on Planet X, Teague promises Krisa he will see her to safety. But Krisa soon finds she never feels safer than when she is in Teague's arms - or in more danger!

After reading Evangeline Anderson's novel Planet X, I have made it a goal to read all of her work. While I have read and thoroughly enjoyed a few of her other books prior to this one, Planet X is the book that earned her a spot on my automatic buy list.

Being a Science Fiction fan, and especially fond of space themed stories, I was drawn to this book, and found I was not disappointed! Interestingly enough, however, the futuristic society is blended with a primitive society on Planet X, which somehow makes the story easier to identify with - a dichotomy, to be sure, since neither society in the story matches the contemporary world we live in.

Now on to the REALLY important stuff: the romance! Teague is absolutely the epitome of the misunderstood bad boy who does what he has to do to survive and protect those he loves, and yet is more tender and caring than the most sensitive `good guy' you've ever met. He easily wins both the readers' hearts and Krisa's as well by the way he takes care of her.

Krisa's character could easily be seen as an allegory for the way society presents an image of how women should look and behave. Her struggle to overcome what is essentially programming and find who she really is, fulfilling her hopes and desires is something that resonated with me, and I would wager many other women will find a piece of themselves in Krisa's personality.

Planet X does bring a happy ending to the lovers, albeit not quite in the way you would typically expect - a fact which made me enjoy the Anderson's story all the more.

What Reviewers are Saying...

When Krisa first sees Teague, he is bound and covered with a blindfold, but neither helpless nor defeated. The initial impression of barely contained predatory strength pulled Krisa (and me) in the same way people are drawn to the powerful big cats at the zoo. She is both helplessly fascinated and a bit frightened. Teague is portrayed as savage as his reputation but beyond that is a man of wit, intelligence, and, honor. The overwhelming desire that he and Krisa share is held in check by his determination to behave in an honorable fashion even while Krisa twists next to him, tormented by explicit dreams of passion. Ms. Anderson allows some real heat to build between the two that will have the reader doing some twisting as well. The savage jungle background of Planet X is perfect for their developing relationship, as they must work closely together to survive. I loved the pacing throughout this story. Nothing seemed forced. There was plenty of action and sexual tension, but the intense attraction built into a believable relationship. Of the secondary characters, Sarskin, an old colleague of Teague's, was particularly interesting. It was difficult to pin down if he was "good" or "evil". This is a terrific hot story with several twists along the way that kept me staying up late and turning pages. I'm happy to recommend it.

Planet X held me riveted the entire time I read this book. Evangeline Anderson has woven a wonderful tale of one woman's journey into thinking for herself and a man's journey into thinking for someone other than himself. Teague grew up hard, fights hard, and loves hard; but for Krisa, he was willing to be patient, and that made me love him instantly. Krisa, having been raised to always be obedient, had a harder time coming to grips with her feelings, but in the end, love prevailed and I was satisfied.

Erotic science fiction is not usually my genre of choice to read, but I made an exception when I saw that Evangeline Anderson wrote Planet X, and I am glad that I did. Not overly loaded with hard to understand science fiction vocabulary and situations, the storyline wove its way to my heart and settled there. It kept me on the edge of my seat, made me laugh, and made me cry. Planet X is a sinfully naughty, wonderfully enjoyable read!

Ms. Anderson has penned a wonderful adventure, full of exciting landscapes and other worldly characters. Krisa is the perfect model of modesty until her survival depends on her acknowledging her passionate nature. Teague is a convict with a code of conduct that rivals many a gentle man. The sexual awakening of Krisa and Teague's restraint combine to make this book impossible to put down. The sexual encounters left me totally captivated and engaged till the last page.

5.0 out of 5 stars Planet X, February 20, 2008
This review is from: Planet X (Paperback)
Krisa Elyison, having just graduated from finishing school, is
traveling to meet her
husband-to-be, Lord Radisson. Krisa, however, yearns for more before
she begins her new life of obedience. Sneaking out of her quarters
late that night, Krisa quietly creeps into the ship's hold to study
HIM. She can't help it, he intrigues her like no one ever has and she
desires to learn more about him. The man chained to the wall in the
hold calls to her and asks her to remove his blindfold. Against her
better judgment, Krisa does as he asks and is amazed at what she finds.

Kurt Teague was born a slave but refuses to die as one. Escaping from
capture again and again, he figures this time is no different and plots
his escape. What Teague doesn't count on is the scent of an aroused
female in the hold where he is chained to the wall. Assuring the
female that he won't hurt her, she removes his blindfold. What Teague
sees intrigues and arouses him, for Krisa is beautiful. There is just
one problem. Teague is still chained to the wall and Krisa is still
traveling to meet the man who is to be her husband.

Their situation changes in the blink of an eye. Krisa finds herself
abruptly awakened from a sound sleep and goes to investigate. What she
finds is an angry captain, an escaped criminal, and a wrecked ship.
Teague and Krisa make their way from the wreckage, but are still in
danger. A ferocious animal is stalking them and both know it is only a
matter of time before Lord Radisson finds her.

5.0 out of 5 stars Polished, perfect, sizzling hot, April 8, 2008
By
This review is from: Planet X (Paperback)
This is one of the best erotic romance novels I've ever read. I read the whole thing in one day. I kept trying to slow down so it would last longer, but it was trying not to finish a hot fudge sundae. Couldn't do it.

The story is hot from the very beginning, when the virginal Krisa catches sight of musclebound Teague chained to a wall in the ship's hold. She's on her way to luxurious slavery as a rich man's wife, and he's on his way to prison. The author takes the time to build a lot of tension between the characters, so that when the ship crashes and they take off together into the jungle to escape a carnivorous predator, the anticipation is already high. A series of edge-of-your-seat adventures follows, and the action is engrossing right up to the very end of the book.

Everything about this book is perfect. The plotting is really well done, and isn't just second string to erotic scenes. The writing is polished, crisp, original and often amusing. There is solid characterization, and you really get to know and care about the characters as they fall in love. The love scenes, which build gradually in intensity throughout the book, totally sizzle.

I just loved everything about this book. It's way too good for Ellora's Cave.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wow, this is one sexy, romantic read!, January 8, 2010
This review is from: Planet X (Paperback)
I wont bother rehashing the specifics of the story. Others have done that in their reviews. I just want to say how much I enjoyed this erotic romance. There was enough romance between the characters (something sadly missing in erotica land) and a lot of deliciously described sexy scenes (sadly, a lot of erotic novels have horrible sex scenes that sound like something horny 14 year old boys would write that do more to ruin a novel than enhance it).

This book was pure, unadulterated lust and longing and tension.

The scene in the book where she brings him water on the ship reminds me of an old favorite of mine called Crimson Rapture by Jennifer Horsman (an old historical novel with a sexy pirate). It was a flirting with danger moment that I haven't found in many other books. I like it when the dangerous alpha male is actually dangerous, not just someone who wears leather pants and a sword.

The hero was as Alpha male as I adore and the heroine was spunky, curious and brave, no wilting delicate flower here in spite of the life that she was destined to lead.

By the time the Hero and Heroine finally do the deed I was a worn out mess, so ready for them to commit to each other and to a life, somehow free of the chip that was controlling their destinies that when it happened I was a little shocked by how it came about.

The ending wasn't exactly what I was expecting, but it hasn't stopped me from rereading this sexy, romantic book again and again.

Planet X kept me turning the pages; I finishd the book in one night. I enjoyed the relationship between Teague & Krisa. The author did a good job of building the sexual tension; sometimes I felt she went a liitle too long with the tension building. The book is 351 pages, the H/h did not get it on until page 291. Although I liked Teague I did not like the way he constantly witheld vital information from Krisa. The SciFi setting was a bit weak, I felt there were a lot of miss oppurtunites were the author could have given more details into Teague's planet and culture. I always felt there was somethig more to be revealed about him; he was so in your face. Krisa came from a sheltered backgroud but she was not a wimp. I guess the sign of a good book is when you don't want it to end, that's how I felt a the end, I wanted to go on another adventure with Teague & Krisa.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good sci-fi romance, May 10, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Planet X (Kindle Edition)
I love sci-fi/futuristic romances, and this one did not disappoint. Teague, the 'hero' here, really made me think of Vin Diesel's character from "Pitch Black" even though I didn't want to, which made it a difficult for me because I had to work my imagination overtime to imagine a cute face to go along with the voice and body (Sorry I just don't think his face is very ummm...attractive). Despite that little snag, I liked the character--- a strong, domineering, but sweet alpha male! I liked the 'heroine' Krisa as well I suppose, and could appreciate her spirit. But the whole "I can't, I can't, I can't" just went on a bit too long for me, and I found myself yelling at my Kindle trying to tell her to just have sex with the man, but she didn't hear me, and they didn't get it on until darn near the end of the book.

I also found the ending a bit...unfulfilling, as if it needs a prologue or a sequel, because I still had so many questions: Will Krisa get zapped for the rest of her life? Will she ever forget him again? Is Teague actually free here? Must. Have. Answers! Guess that's the sign of a good book, one that leaves you wanting more.

Overall I really liked "Planet X", it has an interesting premise, great sex scenes (once they actually have sex that is) and likable characters. Good choice if sci-fi is your thing.

5.0 out of 5 stars DELICIOUS!, May 19, 2008
This review is from: Planet X (Paperback)
I loved this book. It was one of those stories that once you start, you just can't put down. There was drama, adventure and enough love scenes to satisfy the pickiest of readers. This is my first time ever reading this author but I am already looking forward to her other books. Someone mentioned the similarities of this story and the movie Pitch Black. I totally agree. It is very similar but in a way it is also much better. It has all the romance, hot sex and passion that the movie lacked. This one is a keeper.

The characters were well created and the story was good. The only thing that stopped me from giving it 5 stars was that I though the heroine spent so much time trying to be the good girl. Great book overall.
