5.0 out of 5 stars excellent compilation
If you ever attended a yoga class where background music was played or if you have read any yoga magazines, chances are that you are familiar with most of the artists compiled under this two-Cd album. Names such as Krishna Das, Jay Uttal, Deva Premal and Rasa, just to name a few, are some of the great artists grouped here. Even if you don't practice yoga, but enjoy...

3.0 out of 5 stars love cd2 for massage!
I bought this CD to play during massage. It's actually a two-disc set. Unfortunately, more than 1/2 the songs are almost an indian-pop, too lively and loud for massage. the 2nd cd, however, is just four long songs, beautiful and melodic. A very nice change-of-pace from the bland massage-specific music I normally end up playing.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent compilation, May 9, 2002

If you ever attended a yoga class where background music was played or if you have read any yoga magazines, chances are that you are familiar with most of the artists compiled under this two-Cd album. Names such as Krishna Das, Jay Uttal, Deva Premal and Rasa, just to name a few, are some of the great artists grouped here. Even if you don't practice yoga, but enjoy listening to world (or trance) music, you'll probably enjoy this tape as much as I do.
The first Cd has Indian healing chants but performed by westerners, (as Krishna Das writes on the intro to the booklet); so if the lyrics are Indian, the music is not. It may fall in the category of enviromental or acoustic which makes it more appealing for our western taste.
The second Cd is instrumental and more suitable for a meditation or relaxation practice. The insert booklet comes with illustrations of a basic yoga class with asanas or poses familiar to anyone who has practice yoga.
I listen to this album on my way to and from work and it really takes my worries away from rush hour. The music selection is excellent and there are a few tracks that have quite an upbeat tempo, you'll probably will want to dance to. The best thing about this compilation is that you get all these great artist in one single album, so you save some bucks having to buy each single one. I'm sure this album will become a bestseller soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars a must have for yoga class, August 20, 2002
This review is from: Planet Yoga (Audio CD)
I am a yoga teacher and am picky, picky, picky. It is hard to find a compilation cd (or any cd) that you can play through without the sour apple track that makes you bristle during class. These two are perfect. The first cd is beautiful...great fun chants, I actually like all of them...very uplifting before class...then the 2nd cd is just right during class. No annoying vocals or horns or screeching flutes, just a steady meditative pace, and no wimpy New Age tracks. Peace!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Winner!, May 1, 2004

This is a CD I listen to all the time, and it's been months since I got it; however, I like the first CD far better than the second one in this set.
I think Krishna Das sounds better on this CD than on any other one I have heard, and Deva Premal's voice is like honey.
Very uplifting, not light and ethereal. Good for feeling grounded.

5.0 out of 5 stars Soothing, March 24, 2005

Planet Yoga, a two-CD set of Indian chants songs and ambient creates the perfect environment for the practice of yoga, exercise, contemplation and relaxation. The first CD is designed as an accompaniment to yoga. The second CD in the collection is designed to enhance relaxation and meditative practices by presenting an ambient soundscape that creates a space that engenders a vibration of peace.
This is one of the most relaxing CD's you'll find. This is a great CD to listen to on the way home after a long, stressful day at work.

I can't believe anyone thought this was "so-so" - well, that's what makes life interesting...I have taught yoga for a long time and I never get tired of this CD. I love every single thing on the first disc. Totally amazing both for classes and also for background music when I'm doing research in my office.

5.0 out of 5 stars Two great differing discs, January 26, 2005
By
This review is from: Planet Yoga (Audio CD)
These two discs will make a welcome addition to a collection of music used for Yoga and contemplation. The first disc offers music with lots of melodic pulse. The second disc is much more mellow and beautiful in its own way. The various artists featured are all great. They are my favorites! You'll benefit from the artistry of Deva Premal, Jai Uttal, Drala and much more. You can't go wrong with this compilation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Yoga Practice and Meditation, June 26, 2005
This review is from: Planet Yoga (Audio CD)
I really love this CD for my yoga classes. Disc 1 escalates at a nice pace for a beautiful flow practice and Disc 2 is wonderful for the cooling phase and meditation. All of the artists are favorites of mine, especially Deva Premal.
