5.0 out of 5 stars I enjoy it as much as they do........ September 15, 2011
I recently purchased two Planetboxes through that company's website, and decided to post a review here because the product is so impressive, I have to rave about it.

My son, who is a very picky eater, went off to full-day kindergarten this year. I spent the summer researching lunch boxes that would work for him. The only type of sandwich he eats is cream cheese. He does not like his food to touch, etc. etc. At lunch I was in the habit of giving him a little of this, a little of that and letting him graze. This box allows him to do exactly that. I usually put veggies in one compartment, fruit in another, a cream cheese sandwich or hard boiled eggs in another compartment, some cheese and a piece of chocolate for a treat. There is even a pocket where I can put a tin of Goldfish crackers for a snack and pouch that fits his Thermos Funtainer.

Nothing migrates, nothing touches, nothing leaks, and there are no lingering smells. It is a cinch to clean, and I don't have to bother with foil, baggies and wraps.

No, it is not cheap, and some people may think it is silly to spend this much on a lunch box. However, I see this as an investment. The construction is impeccable, and I'm sure it will last for years. Plus, I won't be buying baggies, foil, and wraps or replacing lost containers.

I thought my husband would balk at the price, but when I showed him the product, he asked me to order him one too. I'm in the habit of packing both of their lunches at night and often use dinner leftovers. I thought it would be such a chore, but it is has actually been fun. The box helps you think"outside the box" and be creative so that you're not always packing the "same old same old". My husband thinks it is plenty big enough for him (he's a big, athletically built guy). My son comes home with leftovers that he usually finishes as an afternoon snack. No waste!

Two things a buyer should be aware of: A standard sandwich will not fit in the sandwich compartment unless you stack the halves. wraps and sandwich rounds fit perfectly. Also, If you pack lunch the night before, you might get a bit of condensation within the box. This is not an issue for my family, but it may be with some picky eaters. The food is by no means soggy.

Overall, this has been a fantastic purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ingenious Product January 26, 2011
This is my second time reviewing a product on Amazon and I took the effort to do so because this product and the company deserves it. This is far and above the best lunch box out there for school lunches. I researched so many products and bought this one and another one made of plastic. So, now I have compared them side by side for the past 6 months. Although this lunchbox cost more, it is worth every penny. I was initially concerned that it might be a bit heavy for my child, but it is not. The plastic one is actually heavier, difficult to clean and cumbersome to attach the lid. My daughter has a really difficult time putting the lid back on the plastic one. Some of my friends bought some other kinds where every piece has a removable lid and now their children have thrown away some of the lids by accident.

This lunch box is so simple and opens as a tray, so your child's food never touches the lunchroom table, which to me is a big deal (all those germs). It is also extremely durable and the closure is simple enough for a kindergartener. With that said, the look of the lunchbox is sleek and sophisticated, appealing to all age groups. This is a one time purchase. The plastic one will need to be replaced next year....if it lasts until then. Finally, the lunch box has added an element of creativity and fun to making lunches as there are so many options and compartments to fill. My favorite is (and my kids) the small little square compartment on the tray - which we fill with a small treat or handwritten note. Thanks PlanetBox for your exceptional product that also helps the environment. I will be buying another one to replace the plastic. My only regret, not buying two of these last year.

5.0 out of 5 stars use Glad Press'n Seal for sealing in juicy foods November 15, 2012
By Naomi
My Kindergartener and I both LOVE his PlanetBox. I sometimes pack pickle spears in the long compartment (or juicy fruits) which would make his sandwich bread wet and he wouldn't eat his sandwich when that happened. Now I use a piece of Glad Press'n Seal to cover the compartment of anything that is juicy and then you can use the Dippers for other foods. (note: I just found out that all Glad products are PVC, bpa, & phthalate free)
