This review is from: Planking the Built Up Ship Model (Paperback)
It was written by Jim Roberts when he was General Manager of Model Shipways, a division of Model Expo. It is the definitive book on the subject. If you build European models, you need this book. In fact, if you build ship models of any kind, you need this book. Jim's clear, concise writing and his excellent illustrations will guide you through all the headaches planking can throw your way. George Campbell, who wrote The Neophyte Shipmodeler's Jackstay, was a good friend of Jim's but had nothing to do with this book. So buy it, already. And tell Jim I sent you.

So you want your planking to look like the real thing!,

I personally own over two hundred books that attempt to explain to the layman how to plank the hull of a ship. For the model ship builder, this book is the only choice you have, if you wish to learn how to plank a hull. Jim brought together 90 pecent of what you need to know. More info on how to line-off the hull would bring it up to 100 percent. The only alternative to Jim's book costs 10 times as much, at $75 and deals with the real thing. It is "The Hull" by Larry Pardey. I recommend both. The comparisom makes Jim's book "The Best Buy" when it comes to planking.
