This review is from: Planning your Herbal Wedding (Paperback)
"Planning Your Herbal Wedding" is a great way to start doing just that. Here's why: I announced my engagement and suddenly I was beseiged by gifts of wedding planners. These are kind and highly practical gifts. However, the planners had so much information irrelevent to me ("two or three Bridesmaid's luncheons?" I don't think so) that they made me hyperventilate. I'm a gardener and logically decided to focus on wedding flowers first. I got interested in the Victorian "language" of herbs and that brought me to "Planning Your Herbal Wedding." I was SO grateful to find that this book focused on the basics and didn't assume I was hiring a fancy-schmancy florist. Ms. Williams gives lots of workable options for selections, combinations and basic design of herbs and flowers. I also like the folkloric history she gives for some of the plants. The other nice thing about the book is that the timelines (when you should do what) Ms. Williams suggests seem practical and workable. I feel like my ceremony will be a little more meaningful and a lot calmer. Keep in mind it is a BASIC planner and is geared more towards flowers than appropriate gifts for the stepfather-in-law or whomever. It may not be enough information for everyone but start with baby steps before you wade through Emily Post and Martha Stewart.
