Wiederspan has been a world-recognized guru of Macintosh WWW software and site administration for years, and wrote one of the first WYSIWIG HTML editors. Now he teams with Chuck Shotton -- creator of WebSTAR and MacHTTP -- to teach you everything you know to set up a Mac-based WWW site. Recommended.

Review

Administer web sites on the Mac using this guide to Macintosh-oriented HTTP services. This covers installation, configuration, and use of servers, examining issues ranging from set-up to security and providing an accompanying CDROM which includes utilities and source code. An excellent Mac guide to web interactions. -- Midwest Book Review

This review is from: Planning and Managing Web Sites on the Macintosh: The Complete Guide to Webstar and Machttp (Paperback)
In brief, this book has not been updated since 1996. Much of its information (and the contents of the companion CD-ROM) is sorely outdated.

The introductory chapters, which give an encapsulated history of the Internet and the Web (and all the terminology that goes with it), are interesting. But after that, it's basically an abridged Webstar 1.2 manual. The latter chapters on CGI scripting are still helpful.

Those interested in specifically learning about running and managing your own site server are better off going online or just reading the current Webstar manual.
