I needed a case to transport a couple of rifles from one coast to the other. The product served the purpose, but I don't think I'll be able to use it too many more times. I don't know whether to blame the airline for how the case was handled while in transport or the quality of the case itself. Regardless of which, after picking up the case from the airline, I discovered it had a substantial crack in one corner. I doubt it could withstand a truck rolling on it as the advertisement shows.

The snap locks on the case are inferior in design and come apart easily. A strong metal pin for the locking hinge would work a lot better. I will not order another Plano product on line as I would have to examine it for strength and worthiness first.

The Plano SXS double rifle case is a very nice, double-sided rifle case. As the description states, it is a plastic case with plastic latches and hinges. Although this may sound kind of cheaped-out, in fact the case and its components feel substantial and appear to be of high quality.

Although I had read the dimensions in the item description, I really wasn't prepared for the case to be as large as it is -- This case would easily hold two elephant guns! It is quite a bit larger than I need for my two .22 cal rifles. However, since the case is so large, I can now see myself using it to transport my 30"-barrel shotgun and my 24"-barrel Winchester 94 for cowboy action events. Nice bonus!

Also, because of the case's large size, it will easily hold at least one handgun on each side (in addition to a rifle) for trips to the range, thereby eliminating the need to carry separate cases for longarms and pistols. It's a little heavy if you do it this way; but, it's more convenient than carrying three or four individual cases. Again, nice!

The only potential negative to consider is the case's length. At 53", it may not fit in the trunk of many smaller cars. Like a ski case, you may have to split the back seat and have the case extend into the car's cabin. Not a big deal; just something to keep in mind before ordering.

Overall, this is a very nice, well-made case that I would recommend to anyone looking for a roomy, relatively lightweight solution for carrying their rifles.

A note on the vendor: This was my first purchase from Sportsman's Guide and I was very impressed with their performance. The price was terrific, I received status E-mails at every step of the process, and the item was delivered right on time (only four days in transit!). Nicely done, I must say!

And, this is the same case being offered elsewhere (including Amazon) for over $10 more in price. Although this pricing may no longer be current by the time you read this review, it is important to note that - even if the price seems too low - it is exactly the same case (Plano model 1512) you'd get anywhere else. So, don't hestate based on any concerns regarding the seemingly low price.

In closing: Nice case, great price -- If you think it's what you're looking for, go for it! You won't be disappointed!

This case only holds two rifles if they are small and skinny. I could barely get it to close (with much bulging and misalignment) when putting two AR-15s in it.

This rifle case is fine for storage pourposes. If your goal is to carry your guns around it`s going to give you a very hard time. The handle is not very well attached to the case so every time you`re walking with your case, it falls off and you just keep the handle in your hand. I tried to put some resin to fix the problem, but the attachment just broke due to my rifles weight. I carry pretty heavy rifles, but that shouldn`t be a problem.

While nowhere near the quality of high-end cases, at the price it is a great value. The pillared construction provides "crush resistance" to protect expensive rifles but flexibility of the materials when closing make alignment of the pillars and the flanged lip a bit challenging. I'm unsure how the closures will last over time, but no problems so far. Securing the case is easy with 4 places to put locks...of course, with a plasic case a good box cutter would probably get you into the case in short order. At the price, I LIKE IT.

It is a little flimsy when open and the closing clamps can pop off (seems like they are designed to be removable). But, when it is closed it is very solid and safe (protecting) for the rifles. If you have a 24", scoped rifle with a Dragunov style stock it may not fit. There is plenty of over all space, but one of the pillars is in the way. Works good with regular stock rifles and AR style. Again, a good over all buy for the money! I feel comfortable my rifles will not get damaged.

A good case that works well for the price. I would add some double-sided tape or something between the foam and the lids to keep the foam from falling out each time it's opened, but otherwise a good case that protected my rifles well during my recent move.

This case was better than I expected. It definitely takes a beating and is far superior to the single side double rifle hard cases. I plan on purchasing another. Only reason for four stars is because of the latches. They can be a bit of a pain to line up due to the case being somewhat flexible.

This Gun Case appears to be constructed well. I do like the multiple latches. Would like to see more a substantial area to lock case closed, but overall a real decent gun case.
