Linking arms apply pressure evenly to all four sides through the 43 in. pair of aluminum extrusions, which produce a nearly perfect flat panel or door. The clamps slide along 39 in. wall mounted rails (mount any number of rails in tandem for unlimited clamping length, additional packages available). Mounting the rails to a board that has been shimmed out straight from the wall ensures that will your glue-ups be flat and perfectly straight. Hardwood glue-ups allow greater clamp spacing than soft woods. Large (60 in.) round table tops can easily be made by gluing up a 120 in. x 30 in. panel, cutting it in half, gluing the two halves with bar clamps and make it round with a swing jig. Plano can also be used as a veneer press by sandwiching the substrate and veneer between two outer layers of wax paper and plywood or mdf. Mount the clamps 8 in. apart.

I am a full time engineer and a part time woodworker.

The engineer in me concludes that there was more then the usuall napkin drawings while drinking coffee. A lot of thought has gone into the development and mfg of this exceptional product.

From the woodworker side of me I have used no other clamping product that uses so small a space yet clamps very large products, and does it very well keeping the work strait and under equal pressure.

Bought this a few months ago and just had the time this past week and the necessity to assemble/install it in my shop. I'm a full time professional woodworker/cabinet maker and after using the Plano for the last week gluing up shelving for a double bookcase for a customer, I've got nothing but the best to say about it. I was fortunate to get it at a 40% off sale which made it affordable, and I'm really glad I parted w/my $$$. Just saved me HOURS of time in glue-ups. I want to recommend it so that a lot of people will use it and the price will go down. I'd like to double up on what I have and cant wait for another 40% off sale lol. Time saving, simple as hell, efficient, strong, very clever, tho expensive. I can see the springs on the mechanism are going to be a problem down the road. Hopefully the Plano folks are listening and will come up with a more easily replaceable spring - interesting how they included a few extra with the unit. Anyway, highly regarded. You'll love it - no need for biscuits and excessive aggravation with having boards gluing up flat (tho you still have to fiddle a bit)as well as alternating clamps on top and below to equalize pressure. You can even add extra clamping across the ribs if you want to really bring the plane flat.
