5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I needed
I needed a light weight case to send two rifles, one pistol and three boxes of amunition to Alaska for my recent hunting expedition. The Plano Pillard double gun case did the job, and weighed only 35 lbs. at check in.

I don't care if $60 is on the low end of gun cases, Plano could have spared 10 cents to glue their foam padding into the case, rather than have it fall out every time you open it. Furthermore, I wasn't able to fit two rifles in there, let alone with scopes (it was an M-4 with Aimpoint on one side, a Remington M700 with 3-9x40 on the other). Returned to Amazon.

I needed a light weight case to send two rifles, one pistol and three boxes of amunition to Alaska for my recent hunting expedition. The Plano Pillard double gun case did the job, and weighed only 35 lbs. at check in.

I decided to use two TSA approved combination locks along with two zip ties to secure this case in transit. I also included several extra zip ties in case the TSA decided to open it again. (Another solution would have been to use four locks as the case is not rigid enough to be securely closed without using all four locking points.)

I bought this case for a small scoped rifle and a Wingmaster shotgun (30" barrel). Both fit in the case perfectly. The case is very secure with its 6 latch points (on each side) and 4 locking points. But, I'm not sure how good this case would be for airline travel due to the thinness of the case -- you might want a "floating" case for that. If I were to use this on a plane, I would take the optics off the gun(s) just to be safe.
One word of caution -- the locking points are a little wide due to having to lock both sides -- you'll need locks with shackels longer than the typical luggage lock. I'd recommend buying the lock(s) after you get the case.
Overall, for the price, this is an excellent case.

For the money, the Plano Pillared Double Gun Case is a very good solid rifle case. The only problem I can see with it, is that it dosen't have enough proper internal space for scoped rifles. None scoped rifles fit perfectly, but scoped rifles fit a little too tightly for me.

Tight fit for my two scoped rifles. The sides were slightly bent when the case is closed. Because my rifles were heavy, the handle came off at the range when I lifted the case up from the left side because it is press fitted in. I secured it with a wire to prevent this from happening in the future. OK for light duty like 22LR, but would avoid for anything more heavy duty.

3.0 out of 5 stars Flimsy but does the job well, December 27, 2009

Pretty flimsy case, latches, and handle, but protects gun well. Wouldn't use it as protective luggage on a flight, but fine for your own car.

I got this case for my gamo big cat (with scope 3-9x40) and my crossman nitro (with scope 3-9x40) and they fit beautifully. The case is beautifull and sturdy. foam inserts are very good. I just love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars super gun case for a shooting club, January 27, 2012

I purchased 2 gun cases for my 4-H Gun Club to house our new Crosman h2009protect pellet guns. They fit perfectly and protect our $500 investment of each gun. I would recommend this case for anyone with multiple guns. They don't take as much room when transporting in my pickup to the range. Thanks for offering a super product at a super price.

This was purchased for trap shooting. Very sturdy case and keeps the guns secure while in transit. It works out great. Holds two shotguns with 28" barrel.

Works as advertised. I have an unscoped M4 on one side, and a scoped bolt action on the other. No fitting problems at all. Although it's a bit heavy w/ both guns in there
