5.0 out of 5 stars Priced Right
Since I'm not an avid shooter, this case exceeds my needs for a protective case for two hand guns. I might take my guns to the range once a month. I would not recommend this case for shooters who frequently carry their guns for range shooting. For extreme activity I would recommend a metal carrying case that has a lock mechanism. If you are looking for a low priced,...

3.0 out of 5 stars Suitable for Storage
This case was what I had expected, as I had read previous reviews. Needed a double case as my gun has a scope on it and I like to carry extra clips and ammo in same case. We no longer shoot competition, so the case will carry the gun from house to home range just fine. Plano is a reputable product line. I liked the pillard center, keeps light weight case from...

4.0 out of 5 stars Value Case, January 7, 2008

This case is a good value for what is cost.

1. Oversized - two pistols (full size) fit with multiple clips and speed loaders
2. Crush Resistant - the pilar in the middle does an acceptable job of providing stability to the case (although this protects the middle of the case, the overall case stability is not something I would subject the case to abusive loads).
3. Foam - The inside has the normal egg-crate foam, this meets close enough to secure items inside from moving around during normal carrying.
4. Fit - While the case seals while closed (this is not water/air tight), closing the case is not smooth and requires you to (at least on mine) manually align the bottom and top to close the latches.

This case does what I bought it for, not to keep my guns in but to carry a pistol or two and some clips. It is also the least expensive double pistol case I have found.

Would recommend this to anyone.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not sturdy enough to secure firearm, November 20, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Plano Protector Pro Max Pillared Double Pistol Case (Sports)
I bought this case expecting a lockable case capable of storing a firearm moderately secured from the possiblility of my children ever gaining access to it, however it is more flimsy than other pistol cases I've had, and much less sturdy than what I expected.
It is fine if there is no need for the contents to be locked.
However, even with a padlock put on the case, the plastic is thin enough that an ambitious child would be able to easily pry open the corners wide enough to remove whatever firearms might be inside, without ever removing the lock.
Do not purchase this item if you need lockable storage.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great case for Daisy 747!, January 6, 2012

Bought this for my child's Daisy 747 air pistol. Fits the gun GREAT and does exactly what I need it for. Strong enough to be rigid and protect well, but it's not like a hard shipping case at all. Perfect for storing our pistol and for carrying back and forth to the target range.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good inexpensive case for the range or for air travel., January 3, 2012

This case is not secure. At all. It's possible to pretty quickly empty of it of any firearms regardless of whether or not the case is locked. The case is pillared to make it crush resistant but the material is still flexible and it can be pried open even if the latches are closed.

Regardless, this meets the TSA requirements for a hard-sided case, is inexpensive, weighs next to nothing, and holds two full size handguns with room to spare. The foam seems to be adequate to prevent firearms and accessories from moving around when the case is closed.

If you just want a case to travel with and maybe take to the range (i.e. you don't need a "secure" case) then this is for you. If you need a case that will prevent your children from accessing your firearms, I suggest you look elsewhere. If you plan on using this case to check firearms through TSA, I recommend putting it inside another piece of luggage. I'm not convinced that it's sturdy enough to stay closed given the abuse that it will experience through the airline luggage-handling process.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great case, March 8, 2011

I had hoped that this case would fit a Gamo PT-85 tactical with tru-glo dot sight, tac light and laser but it was not to be. While the gun does fit lengthwise (grip to barrel) it did not fit with the tac light and laser which are mounted on the sides. It's fine if you do not mind taking off the laser and tac light each time but who wants to do that. Overall I can still use this case to hold two standard pistols no problem.

4.0 out of 5 stars decent for transport to/from range, July 1, 2010

Good price +1
- until I found the plano four gun case for even cheaper. -1

Big enough to hold 2 full sized pistols and 1 subcompact, plus 2 extra magazines. +1

Plastic is flexible enough that with a padlock on the case, I was able to pry it apart enough to take the full size pistol out - and the pistol also had a trigger lock on it. -1

But it was always intended only to transport to/from range so I'm good with it. +1
