I bought this case based on the last review given, and I am not disappointed. This box is sturdy compared to some others that I have seen in the same price range, and contrary to its size it does offer a lot of space for ammunition and other essential items for the average shooter such as myself.The top compartment is a useful feature because it's not dead space, you can easily fit a field cleaning kit or other small items such as cleaning rags or tips/brushes for a snug fit.
The only thing I would add is that mine did have the holes for the padlock, as seen in the picture (to the right of the clasp). For the price, I wouldn't go with anyone other than Plano.

Pros:
Ample space for various types of ammunition/supplies
Top compartment easily fits field items that do not have to be secured
Durable construction, haven't had any issues using this at the range
Contents can be secured with a sturdy padlock for storage/child-proofing
Very good value for the price
Cons:
Ammo Can design, not really a flaw but would be more compact when open if the hinge was located on the side as opposed to the rear.

Update - I've used this box several times since purchasing it over a year ago and I am pleased with it so far. It's held up on several long trips, and is packed to the brim with ammunition and supplies so it has some weight to it now. No issues yet!

Pros:
-This case may seem small but can easily hold around 300 rounds of 12 gauge ammo. Great for transporting or storing ammo.
-Secure clasp leaves the lid tight and secure.
-The small compartment on the top lid offers great storage for small cleaning kits or tools.
-Flat top allows for stacking.

Cons:
-Handle in picture does not match product received, but no big deal.
-No pad lock option. This isn't a big deal, but if you want to keep your ammunition locked up, find a different ammo box.
-Hinges are small and could possible break under heavy stress. However 4 hinges even out load.

Other Thoughts: I wish there was a divider in the box, this would help with sorting ammunition.

i bought this based on the brand image of plano.
this product is all they say it is.
i found it very usefull

First impression was terrible. It looks like its been tied behind a car and dragged for awile. I don't know if its the color but the entire thing looks like it should after I've owned it for several years. Second impression, after I opened it, wasn't great either. It feels extremely flimsy. That is my biggest problem with it, it doesnt feel like it can handle much stress. The box itself is study enough, its the hinge. I'm pretty sure it's going to break. Can't say when or how, but if the lid twist for any reason this thing is done for. The top compartment is cool and useful. I've only had it out three times now, (target shooting in the woods) and it has held up, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

this plano box is very nice it has a place for padlock and like a olive gray camo pattern , the lid compartment is a great idea, like the other review states you can't go wrong with plano quality...
