5.0 out of 5 stars Nice medium sized pistol case
I got this case on sale for a few bucks off list price and am giving 5 stars based on that price. At full price I'd drop one star. The positives are: a hard shell that protects a gun, a fairly secure hole that accepts a solid lock and a foam lining. The hinge, fasteners and exterior look durable. 3.0 out of 5 stars Large doesn't mean big!
The case is very well constructed and works well for one of my pistols, however, it's way too small for the other, I recommend that you start including dimensions with products like this so the customer can insure it will work before buying it.

The case definitely will protect a handgun though you may want to wrap a sock or cloth around the gun to prevent it from bouncing around inside. You get a lot for five bucks!

The only negative is that it shouldn't be described as a large case, it certainly won't hold a 5.5" Ruger Mark II pistol or a revolver with a 6" barrel. A couple friends also got this case and we've found that a full size 45ACP fits well as does a Hi-Power, Luger, medium size Glock and a 4" K-frame revolver. I'd say many 4" revolvers and 5" semiautos will fit.

Review for Single Pistol Case (Large). Nice sturdy case. Fits my Glock 19, 2 mags, and speed loader perfectly. External dimensions are 10.5" (length) x 7.5" (width). As others have said, foam could be a bit thicker but not a big deal.

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally got the right size!, May 9, 2010

This is the second pistol case I had to buy because of the odd way the dimensions were described. The length was measured along the diagonal. This is not how the dimensions of guns are expressed. You have barrel length and total length along the barrel axis. Caveat Emptor I guess. Let the buyer beware. The case itself is good although the foam lining is a little thin for the weight of guns of this size. I has to supplement the foam lining.

4.0 out of 5 stars GOOD CASE FOR THE MONEY, February 25, 2011

I was looking for the smallest case I could find for my full-sized 1911 pistol. (Nighthawk Predator). The purpose was to be able to transport a cased pistol, ammo in a seperate bag, and my belt rig - all in my motorcycles tank bag. (I am a competitive shooter, who drives to matches and practice a lot). This pistol case fit the bill perfectly.

Upon receipt of the case, like the other reviewers mentioned, the foam lining was kind of thin. (The pistol slid around in the case when moved). But in my opinion, that was OK, as I could easily wrap the pistol in a few extra layers of a cloth to "thicken" it. And even if it did slide around, no biggie, it was a plastic case. It would not get scratched.

One of the things I was worried about was the fit. I did not know which size to purchase for a full-sized 1911 pistol. I am glad I went with the LARGE, as it was the perfect size for a full-grown 1911. A medium would have been too small.

Overall, it was a good investment. It will only be used to transport the pistol from my house to the range - and it fits the bill for a lockable case the CA law requires.

The reason I did not give it a 5-star rating was because of the thin foam lining, and the fact that it was not a heavy-duty plastic case with beefy hinges. But for the money (a little over $5.00), I would buy and recommend it to others in a heart-beat. (But not for airline travel)!!

I am a happy camper.

I will try to add a picture if Amazon.com allows. If not, copy and paste the following link to see my case.[...]
Hope this helped someone out.

Great lockable case, especially for the price. As others warn, size is relative. The "Medium" case is perfect for a Bersa Thunder .380, and this "Large" just fits my 1911 Combat Commander.

Simple protection for my 9mm when it's being transported in my range bag. Sturdy build, spongy foam (in a good, protective way), strong clasps, cheap. Great stuff.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent case for little money, December 10, 2011

Fits a 1911 Government sized pistol perfectly. Seems reasonably well made but not indestructable. Foam is a bit thin but good enough. Worth the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Case For Large Pistols - Recommended, February 1, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Plano Shaped Pistol Case (Large) (Sports)
This Plano "Large Pistol Case" is the right size for large frame pistols, such as a 1911 and Colt Python. Here are my observations;

Pros -
+ Space Saving Shape; takes up less room in my safe than "square" cases
+ Good Protection; case closes securely and is well padded with foam
+ Affordable; this is a good value

Cons -
- Not Very Secure; even with a padlock (not included), the plastic case wouldn't take much effort to open
- Small Lock Hole; a little small for most padlocks

Misc -
* There isn't a lot of room for accessories (like extra magazines) in the case due to the triangular shape

I wouldn't rely on this case to protect against unauthorized access, but it is good protection for storage and transporting.

Recommended! Note: I also have Plano Shaped Pistol Case (Small) and Plano Shaped Pistol Case (Medium), which are pretty much the same quality as this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pretty large, just perfect fit., January 9, 2011

This case just barely fit my m9 it has just enough breathing room. Its 11.5" L x 2.75" W x 7.5" H..hope those dimensions help, also when i put the gun in i can either leave the mag out or in the gun and it will still fit in the case. Its a regular mag not extended, if you have an extended mag it may not fit.
