Inspirational,
This review is from: To Plant A Seed (Audio CD)
WCAR has abruptly become one of my favorite bands. I am very much a supporter of local music, and was turned on to their EP Dreams last winter. However, my interest in this band has nothing to do with location. Though at times, some may argue there is a generic sound being recycled in modern music, WCAR capture a sound that is definable among the rest. There is a healthy balance between metal riffs, catchy synths, and dueling vocals. Their music is filled with texture, and passion. Even after listening to the album dozens of times, I still find rhythms that have gone previously unnoticed.
My most important comment about this album is its lyrical content. I am so impressed with the uplifting lyrics these guys project. The album's artwork is self explanatory and captures the band's overall message. A seed is planted in the mind, expands to the heart, and then flows from the hands. I have not yet decided on a favorite track from the album because I am convinced I could listen to any one of them over and over again for days. Each track has something unique to draw you in. I consider myself a music enthusiast and have felt no excitement about anything new for a very long time. This album has changed that. I much look forward to following albums from WCAR. The band is very young and has the potential and opportunity to become something really great.

On the verge of Epic,
By Holden C. "Hold On" (Spooner St. USA) - See all my reviews

I've been listening to this now for a couple of weeks, and my love for this album grew each day.
There is so much to this album that finding a starting point is a bit of a challenge. I guess a good place to start is the music. It's amazing, mostly. Each song shares similarities with the others, yet each have something unique to bring to the table, always keeping things fresh track to track. Theres a lot of brutal hardcore offerings with grinding guitars and drum work, that seems sometimes sporadic, but actually adds to the intelligent design of the music. Added to the flare is wonderful piano notes and orchestral uplifts. Though nothing new per say, the way they are used gives several tracks a very dramatic, and cinematic feel. There is also some welcomed synth sections that are somewhat minimal, yet work wonderfully. Whats great music without vocals? Neither work without the other, and no fear in that regard. The vocal stylings are just as great as the music. There are plenty of guttural screaming to be had...and its perfect. Some may say it takes no talent to belt out a scream, but I think it requires the same amount of talent to properly scream as it does to sing. Singing and screaming alike abound the record and its a joy to the ears. Lyrically, this album is great as well, providing a great meld with the musical tones throughout. I see several reviews claiming this to be "Christian hard/metalcore" and thats just merely personal assumption. The band has publicly stated that it is not a Christian band, and that just because the music reflects a positive message, they automatically get slapped with the Christian tag. Not that I would have a problem if they were, their faith is none of my concern. I'm just a stickler for the facts, not blind assumptions. Anywho, as a whole, this is a very well put together pleasure to behold by some talented young individuals that should have a long career ahead. I highly recommend this album, I don't see how anyone could have much of anything negative to say...even the pickiest of critics.

Being a huge fan of all types of metal(progressive, death, math, technical, metalcore, deathcore, etc.), this band's unique sound caught my attention almost immediately. Precision drumming, intricate guitar riffs, and a perfect mix of low toned and soaring vocals. I have heard that many people like to bash this band for their use of auto tune and the fact that their singing takes away from the intensity of their sound. Not really. Smiles from ear to ear is more like it. Originality is hard to come by these days, and these guys pull it off quite well. To be honest i was skeptical about them before i bought the album, but i have to admit this is the first time in a long time i have gotten goosebumps or zoned out in awe listening to a music record. 6 out of 5.

I listen to a lot of black/death metal.,

This band isn't anywhere close to being a black or death metal band. But I love this album just the same. There's no denying the talent and creativity these guys possess. The riffs, vocals, drums and song structures are easily some of the most original among all genres of metal. This album is packed full of inspired creativity and it never stops. From start to finish this band doesn't let up.
You'd think a fan of black metal wouldn't take to a band that likes to mix in a lot of clean, soaring-type vocals. But WCAR do it so well, there's no denying them. A band like this would probably be a band I would literally try to hate. But I just can't do it. They are too good, the production it too good, and the songs are just too damned catchy. This is a great young band that deserves to be recognized. I'm an agnostic. I don't know if this is a Christian Metal band. I don't care. Neither should you. Just listen.

This is a solid effort from a talented band. The music is intricate, interesting and driven. The sound is refreshing in this age of sound-alikes. The only hit (and the reason I give it 4 instead of 5 stars) is that there are times when the vocals simply sound out of place. The singer has a punk voice, and when he belts it out over this aggressive stuff, it just plain sounds weird. But I'm sure that's just a matter of taste. Kick ass! Keep it coming!

Definitely an awesome CD. I have not heard any other albums by this band but i sure plan to. Hardcore metal with amazing lyrics. These guys are great and to the contrary of what some snots may say about metal and its evil lyrics, these guys have inspirational and truly meaningful lyrics. Check them out

Awesome Posi-Core album,
This review is from: To Plant A Seed (MP3 Download)
I love these guys, They Rock!!! Not that it matters but Just because your music is positive and devoid of foul mouthed lyrics does not make you a christian band. Equal Vision Records is a Positive Youth Label and consists of mostly bands that are positive focused. They have bands that are into Buddha, Krishna, Christ, and Humanist views none of it matters. The music is what matters and the Positive Outlook is just a bonus. It's nice to have heavy music that you can listen to with you 4 and 5 year old sons without exposing them to language and subjects best left for adults.

i never really liked screamo bands. i hated them until i listened to these guys. this band is freakin awesome! they're songs sound awesome! they're singing about positive things, instead of bands that sing about hate, death, and all sorts of crap. but after listening to these guys, the screaming singers sound great, other screamo bands usually suck because they don't know how to scream right. after buying this cd, i couldn't take off my headphones for hrs and hrs because these band is AWESOME!!!

awesome! everything I was hoping for. when I first heard this song "to plant a seed" I was hooked on the sound but was wondering what the rest of the album might sound like? was hoping for a round experience you know where all the other songs aren't throw aways and lack vision, but to me the whole album is one vision. a vision of greatness. when your in the mood for this type of music it rocks you and leaves you wanting more.
