5.0 out of 5 stars Plantations on the Mississippi River
A great tool for the Louisiana/Mississippi genealogy/histoty buffs. It lists the owners of the land and the name of the plantations. I found it to be accurate. It is also beautiful, a perfect wall decoration for a den or study. Mary Rettig

I thought I was ordering a book. When I got it it was just a map. I have returned it to you.

This review is from: Plantations on the Mississippi River: From Natchez to New Orleans (Map)
For those who enjoy poring over large maps, this one (54" x 34") names and locates all the plantations along the Mississippi River from Natchez to New Orleans in 1850. Taken from from Persac's information, it's a fascinating geographical, historical and genealogical resource. The map even lists very small plantations along the river.

If you like this, also get a copy of "Along the River Road: Past and Present on Louisiana's Historic Byway" by Mary Ann Sternberg. While that book only covers the distance between Baton Rouge and New Orleans, it's a great companion piece.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW - What a map, July 28, 2008
This review is from: Plantations on the Mississippi River: From Natchez to New Orleans (Map)
This map is beautiful and quite large. It could be framed and be a very interesting piece of art work on a large wall. It really blew my mind as to how many plantations there were and how they lined up on the Mississippi river. You can study it for days and still not have seen everything on it. A real piece of work. Must have taken forever to research all the information and then complete the map. WOW is the best way to describe it.
