The saucer is of heavy plastic, and should last a few years before becoming brittle and cracking like some other saucers I purchase from Home Depot. The saucer is not 24 inches in diameter. Inside diameter is 20 inches, which holds my 11.5 square planter base well. If your base is 12x12 it may still fit.

First of all, this is a plastic saucer, not a clay one - the color is what is "clay," but much redder and lighter then the picture (like brick). Saying that, it's a thick well made saucer, not those flimsy things that bend at the stores and nice and big. It works well for my pupose of using it as a bird bath.

This is a nice heavy duty plastic saucer, but it is only 21" across the outside dimension, NOT 24" -- it's about 20" across on the inside. Very disappointed because I needed it to be bigger.
