Editorial Reviews

Review

"With increasing American interest in a southwestern gardening style, the publication of The Plantfinder's Guide to Cacti & Other Succulents couldn't have come at a better time.[T]his book provides very useful information on cacti and succulents and will, I believe, spawn more interest in these often-overlooked garden plants."
—David Salman, American Gardener, September/October 1999 (American Gardener )

"One of the best on the subject for beginners and experienced growers alike."
—George Cohen, Booklist, July 1, 1999 (Booklist )

4.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Read, November 7, 2004
This is a book that you can get your teeth into. Plenty of excellent text content, that is enjoyable to read. For instance there is a chapter on micro-propagation, not something many hobbyist will become involved in, but very interesting never the less. There are articles on correct plant labelling and the reallocation of certain plants into different genera and the usual soil preparation, watering and general care requirements needed to keep the plants healthy. There is an excellent article which allows you to work out your own climate conditions, including a map of the different zones. The photographs are of very good quality and the descriptions of the plants themselves are clear and accurate. This book goes further than many of the books on the subject and for those who like something with a bit more meat to it, rather than just pretty pictures, the book is an excellent buy. I am pleased to have it in my collection.
